1/Who is the @AAUW and why is the candidate questionnaire from @NapervilleAAUW important to the upcoming municipal elections for #mayor and #citycouncil in #naperville?
2/AAUW stands for American Association of University Women, which was founded in 1881 by a small group of female college graduates focused on opening doors for women’s career advancement & to encourage more women to pursue higher education
3/The AAUW is a contemporary of Naperville itself… Joseph Naper is credited with founding Naperville along the DuPage River in 1831 & was elected the president of the board when the village of Naperville was incorporated in 1857. Naperville organized as a city in 1890

1/Several campaigns for municipal positions (#mayor, #citycouncil) in #Naperville are hyping rising #crime as the #1 issue. Their platforms are a solution in search of a problem. The assertion that crime is rising or prevalent in Naperville is simply NOT TRUE.
2/About to drop some stats but 1st some context for the numbers. In mid ‘21, @NapervillePD converted to a new crime data reporting system (NIBRS replaced UCR) per federal mandate. NIBRS is more comprehensive: counts up to 10 offenses per incident vs only the most serious offense;
3/in many categories NIBRS tracks the number of victims vs incidents; some crime definitions changed; NIBRS counts attempted crimes not just completed crimes. As a result, pre-July 2021 data is not comparable to post-July 2021 data and NIBRS is more encompassing (ie higher count)

#earlyvote end of day update 10/28: at least 18.3 million people have voted in the 2022 general election 🥳

Notable out of Georgia is the Black share of the early electorate has slipped to 29.9% in a strong day of Friday voting

Warnock advanced to the run-off in 2020 with 27.7%
Sunday will be the last Sunday of Georgia in-person early voting before the Election (in-person early voting ends Friday of next week). That will likely be a strong day of Black churches' "souls-to-polls" voter mobilization

Added Florida in-person which increased the national total to at least 9.3 million voted. The FL in-person data file is still blank, so I had to hand enter the topline numbers. Hopefully that will be fixed so I can generate more content
Of interest in the Florida in-person votes is that more registered Republicans (56K) voted than Democrats (34K). This is not just a function of which counties offered in-person early voting. Even in some blue counties like Palm Beach, more Republicans voted in-person early

Georgia recorded 140,166 in-person early votes on Friday. There will likely be an upward revision by a few thousand more in the coming days
Friday was the highest day yet for in-person voting in Georgia. Voting interest is running high and not diminishing

Using TargetEarly here's what we know so far about the #EarlyVote: turnout is up over 2018, and the electorate is more Dem than either 2018 or 2020.

2018: 44% Dem
2020: 54.5% Dem
2022: 55.7% Dem

We are off to a good start. Keep working hard everyone. Fired up, ready to go!
GA #EarlyVote continues to keep pace with 2020. Incredible. So encouraging.

People are fired up, ready to go!

Have you voted early? If you can, please do so today.
It helps our elections run better, increases Dem turnout.

Remember, this is what the largest sample likely voter poll reported this week about Dem enthusiasm - it's high and rising!

Have some good new stuff for everyone.

First, the always sharp @tbonier is joining our weekly @deepstateradio podcast today to talk about tends in the #EarlyVote.

His Target Early #EarlyVote tracker launched this am and has good news for Dems 👇1/

targetearly.targetsmart.com/g2022
@tbonier @deepstateradio Just posted the video of my conversation with "future former Republican" @BillKristol, a leader of the anti-MAGA movement inside the GOP.

We covered a lot of important ground in our discussion. Hope you can watch. 2/

NDN has released a comprehensive new presentation on the Hispanic vote. It's a look back at the history of the battle over the Hispanic vote, and offers some thoughts on where we are today.

Bottom line - it's a remarkable Dem success story. 3/

Wed morning election update:
- majority of tracks have D leads, no movement to Rs (see below):
- Biden approval up 9-10 pts
- D candidates w/big cash advantage
- Another big #EarlyVote day in GA
- R crossing over to support Ds across US

It's a close election - keep working hard!
Here's @JoyAnnReid and I talking about this close, competitive election on @MSNBC last night.

Was a good conversation. Check it out.

Media friends,

if you suggest that higher gas prices are benefiting Republicans, it is incumbent upon you to complete the thought - this will once again put the GOP leadership in debt to hostile foreign powers, one of which is committing genocide on European soil.

Thank you.

Some Tuesday election updates.

Let's begin with an encouraging, record setting 1st day #earlyvote in GA. Just jawdropping turnout, intensity. 1/

Most governors are popular. Not an anti-incumbent, throw the bums out election. 2/

Dem House and Senate candidate fundraising advantage a big deal, could be the difference in the home stretch.

Remember candidates get lower rates than outside groups - means you get more for your dollar. Ds likely to close w/more ads than Rs. 3/

This update welcomes Idaho and West Virginia to the tracker courtesy of @DubickiRyan of the Associated Press. I hope to onboard CT and MS this evening (also courtesy of Ryan), and build out more statistics for Georgia's in-person early voting
For now, ignore the total voted demographic statistics on the Georgia page since I haven't incorporated the in-person early voting yet

Added Montana to this update, and you'll now see links to pages for each reporting state
I know RPubs is not the greatest interface. You'll want to click the "hide toolbars" in the lower righthand side to dismiss the annoying toolbars. I plan to look at hosting options for 2022. GitHub works (what I used in 2020), but it is slow and cumbersome to update content

So far in North Carolina, the mail ballot return rate for registered Republicans and Democrats is running about the same, 6.2% for Republicans and 6.1% for Democrats. It's very early in the early voting period, but no apparent enthusiasm gap (confirming many polls)
Although no returned ballots are in the system yet, Pennsylvania election officials report they have sent 158,663 mail ballots earlier this week

2,126,254 people have voted in the 2021 Georgia Senate run-off election
electproject.github.io/Early-Vote-202…
We have a week and a day to go. What seems likely at this point is fewer people will vote early than in the general, which is expected since run-off elections tend to have lower turnout and there were three fewer days of in-person early voting with the holidays
What does this mean for Election Day voters? If the three fewer in-person days affected early turnout, perhaps Election Day will be a greater share of the overall electorate. 1) the ratio of early to Election Day is off plus 2) some people who might vote early vote Election Day

Georgia does not have party registration. Next best to watch is the racial profile of the electorate. Still a long way to go...

2020 General (final)
White: 56.4%
Black: 27.7%

2021 Senate Run-off (current)
White: 54.5% (-1.9 points)
Black: 33.1% (+4.4)
I am reluctant to make same day prior to the election comparisons. If you recall, for the first three days of in-person early voting during the general Georgia had a problem with their electronic poll books. In some places it took up to 15 minutes to check in a single voter.

When generating your hot takes, keep in mind Georgia allows persons age 65+, disabled, military, and overseas civilians to request a mail ballot for an entire election cycle
It is clear Georgia election officials are struggling with processing ballots. E.g., Fulton's 432 accepted ballots is implausibly low. Georgia election officials are very stressed right now, so let's all sit tight and hope they catch up

43,289 people have voted in Georgia's 2021 Senate run-off election electproject.github.io/Early-Vote-202…
There 104 voters who have rejected mail ballots. Underscoring how data entry errors affect these statistics, there are 6 voters whose ballots are rejected for the reason "Ballot Received After Deadline." In the general, these were eventually cleaned up, but come on.
If I were to guess by looking at the ballot request and received dates, these 6 rejected ballots appear to be late arriving ballots from the *general election*

New Georgia run-off stats from Friday. There are now 881,177 ballot requests.

I also updated the PA general election dashboard since @PAStateDept provided a Nov. 20 data file a few days ago and suddenly these data are a thing electproject.github.io/Early-Vote-202…
I would have never believed a year ago that I'd be fact-checking vote fraud claims where Trump's legal team willfully confused PA primary and general mail ballot data
I mean, seriously, who could be dumb enough to put forth an argument that primary mail ballots are the same as general election mail ballots, and who could be even stupider to believe it?

Oh, this guy, a PA state Senator now calling to annul the election

I know, a little disappointing we didn't reach 100 million tonight. Tomorrow morning's updates actually will cover today's activity, so they will really be early votes. I'm certain that we broke 100 million today, even if the reports come tomorrow
I tried my best to get another absentee ballot report from New York. The last I have is from Oct. 23. I would bet there are 350K mail ballots unreported in NY, and I would not be surprised if there are hundreds of thousands in NJ that haven't been entered into their system yet

Pourquoi ? Parce que
