Last week I posted a thread on how to organise advocacy events in BXL. Today I am posting a list of my favourite venues. These are the best places to organise your advocacy event.

🧵
Let start with my favourite place. Stanhope Hotel. Located only a couple of meters away from Plux. It is a bit high end. You can go both small -in their Thea Room- or big -in their Balmoral conference room. I used Stanhope mainly for intimate events. ImageImage
The Thon Hotel actually owns Stanhope, while also having great event facilities by themselves. The location is great, even though its not the place to have intimate events. Its more for seminars and workshops. Image

LONG THREAD: I've been thinking a lot about "hybrid" conferences with some @MeetAtFilament clients and have some thoughts ... #eventprofs #events
1/
First, a hybrid conference shouldn't be an event where the virtual and in-person components happen at the same time. It makes things more complex, requires a ton more work to optimize two different experiences simultaneously, and ... 2/
... because you're trying to broadcast an in-person presentation (more on that format later) to a virtual audience, you'll shrink the in-person experience to one that can be consumed by attendees online. 3/

My dad led an organization of over 300,000 employees.

When I took on my biggest marketing & events team to date (35 employees) I asked him how the *heck* he did it. Here's what he said and what helped me every day. 🧵
Remember you're leading all the employees under you, but you're not *managing* them all. You're managing your direct reports, which should be 5-7 individuals max. Focus on them.
When you interact with the employees you don't manage directly, get to know them as people first, that'll be the most valuable information in leading them. Remembering everything you learn about them is hard, but doing so will make you a superhero.

A product journey thread.

We’d spent our time helping hospitality businesses be creative about selling event space during quiet periods and noticed a theme.

Everything online was enquiry driven with direct follow-up.

Even for simple, smaller meetings.
We started to 🤔 why given consumers can now transact online for pretty much everything

So we spent 6 months with events teams from hotels, conference centres, universities, business hubs, pubs and local councils to understand everything about events & meeting operations

The western US has been on fire for weeks, with unbreathable air confining people to their homes and keeping some from getting out on a bike. In other parts of the world it’s straight-up car pollution doing the same. We’re going to CLEAR THE AIR with #bikeschool #bikes4climate.
We’re heading toward Global #ClimateAction Week so you’ll see that hashtag + #bikes4climate tonight along with #bikeschool.
My hot take: Too many discussions under headlines with words like #sustainability or #climate or #green ignore bikes as clean transport.
****Q1: How have forest fires, pollution, other air quality issues affected your bicycling? Fun fact (h/t @andrealearned): Bikes invented as tool due to volcano eruption pollution. See buff.ly/2LEP6vi by @lloydalter. #bikeschool #bikes4climate #ClimateAction #bikehistory
