AI Black Box Problem - Google AI learns Bengali on its own.

A Google AI program spoke in the Bengali language that it was never trained to know. Such mysterious behaviors are called emergent properties where an AI unexpectedly teaches itself a new skill.

#Google #Bengali #AI Image
1. A recent example OF EMERGENT PROPERTIES OF AI is an AI program that recently adapted itself to Bengali based on a few prompts. With a handful of prompts, AI can now fully translate Bengali.

2. Based on recent reports, the only plausible explanation seems to be the phenomenon known as AI black box. AI black box is a system whose inputs and operations are not visible to the user or any other interested party. /n

Fellow tweeps, you might not be as safe as you had thought. Yeah, #Twitter might be posing some risks to you. ⚠👀

In this thread, I’ve compiled some security checks you SHOULD do on your @Twitter account.

You don’t want to read it? As you wish. 🧵🏌️‍♂️ Image
Oh, well, I guess you decided to read it anyway. That’s so thoughtful of you, and while we’re at it, I’ll appreciate and urge you to follow me. I provide exquisite contents that’ll interest you. 💯

For the taking, this thread is not about the internal vulnerabilities of Twitter;
I mean those private data leaks, account hacks, internal errors, and whatnot; no, it ain’t about all that. ❌👎

But you see those access and authorizations you give to external apps and sites via the Application Programming Interface (#API), they’re toast, man. 😂

orcid.org/0009-0008-5893… Backlinks have long been considered a crucial factor in determining a website’s ranking on search.

Historically seen as a vote of confidence, plenty of backlinks pointing to a website indicated that it is a trusted and authoritative source of information

Google just announced an AI-driven, conversational chat experience within Google Ads meant to help advertisers build campaigns. Here’s what we know so far.

#thread 🧵
The process starts with your landing page. Once provided, Google crawls the page, summarizes the content and intent, and then “will generate relevant and effective keywords, headlines, descriptions, images, and other assets for your campaign.”
Once generated, you have the opportunity to review and edit all of the suggestions. In addition, you can “ask Google AI for ideas, just like you might ask a colleague.” This gives you the opportunity to chat back and forth with Google as you iterate.

This is a thread about what was right and what was wrong in the recent Senate hearings on AI harms featuring @OpenAI CEO @sama, as well as @IBM's @_ChristinaMont and @GaryMarcus (one of the researchers in this field I respect most).
Altman’s call for regulation and openness about large language models (LLMs) are obviously to be commended. So far as I can understand, there was a true effort to make the technology understandable to lawmakers.
The best part was Altman’s emphasis on the potential labor market harms and issues related to control of data. These remain my most important concerns about the rollout of new AI tech.

But there are also things that worry me about the hearings and the surrounding discussions.
