Reasons NOT to use #MobProgramming as a software development strategy:

1. Mob programming may only be suitable for some types of projects, teams, or initiatives. It may be more effective for certain tasks or projects but less effective for others.
2. Mob programming may not be suitable in a distributed work world because it requires a high level of collaboration and communication. To communicate effectively, geographically dispersed teams may need a significant investment in tools and infrastructure.
3. The infrastructure required for #mobprogramming may be more complex or costly than traditional software development methods.

Advantage of #mobprogramming:
1. Increased collaboration on the Scrum Team - all team members are working on the task at hand, exchanging ideas, working together, and creating a shared understanding of the code and solution.
2. Transparent Codebase - team members can gain a deeper understanding of the system and code as a whole rather than just their own areas of responsibility. This entire team understanding removes "knowledge silos" and removes fragility from the team.
3. Faster Development: problems can be solved faster by working together, leading to value delivered sooner. Much of this happens through the Agile Principle - "Simplicity - the art of maximizing the amount of work not done - is essential."

I am going through old notebooks and junk to clean up and remove clutter from my house. I have a notebook that includes notes from my first day at Hunter, and my first meeting with the team that 6 months later would stumble upon the idea of #MobProgramming
1/
“My job is to make it possible for you to excel at everything you do here.”

I might rephrase this a bit if I were doing this over again, but it makes me feel good that this is the first thing I said to this team.

It’s a commitment I made to them, and to myself.

2/
That was my first point, and here is a synopsis of the rest of the points I shared:

2- Some things I value

- Respect for our customer, our coworkers, and our team
- Being effective as a team
- “Maximize the whole”
- Continuous improvement

Hi @digitalocean, we are going to host a #MobProgramming meetup during #Hacktoberfest. As all commits/PRs are crafted as a team/mob, the co-authors are attributed using this feature of Github Desktop: desktop.github.com/features/co-au…
(1/3)
It would be really awesome if the co-author's contributions would be recognized as well for the Hacktoberfest challenge. Do you think this makes sense?
(2/3)
FYI: Github Desktop basically just adds one or more “Co-authored-by” trailers to the end of the commit message:
github.blog/2018-01-29-com…

Thread: #MobProgramming seems to create a really positive impact on #collaboration. Here are some resources that helped me exploring Mob Programming. I also share my own agenda for introducing it to teams. Thank you lovely filter bubble for teaching me. You are awesome!
Two very valuable #Podcast episodes for understanding the concepts of #MobProgramming with two of its masterminds. Great interviews by @timothep in his Podcast @DevJourneyFM:

The Mob Programming Guidebook by @maaretp: bit.ly/2srEPih

Read this and you can start with your first session using #MobProgramming.
This document was, what got me hooked. Thanks to @timothep for showing me.

Thread: I‘ve been practicing #mobprogramming for a while. Every day that I am working alone now feels wrong. I make more mistakes, need more tries, forget things, have to actively and tediously synchronize with team members, have to wait for stuff, stumble upon stuff that (1/5)
other people did (alone) which is either bad or not easy to understand, am interrupted and have to switch tasks often, find the same thing implemented in many ways, have to review code, have my code reviewed, have to invest time in merging and rebasing, don‘t exactly know (2/5)
where we are and what‘s next, ...
We have been trained to work alone. It‘s our comfort zone. The safest space is the space that we don‘t have to share. That‘s why I understand that people want to work alone. But working alone is just wasteful. It increases the amount of (3/5)

I can estimate how long it will take me to drive to Des Moines, and be "close enough." There are lights, stops, traffic, weather to consider, but mostly it's me choosing route and rate.
Route has speed limits, traffic features, raw distance. Those are not up to me, really. I have limits, but the limits make the trip predictable.
The fewer items are under my control, the less likely the estimation.

Can I get to des moines in 3 hours? Probably, if you provide me a fast plane or fast helicopter and clear weather. Otherwise, no.
