❓Which begs for an important question:

Why do successful people get “STUCK”?

🧵👇

Set a reminder for my upcoming #TwitterSpaces

Successful people are often afraid to change anything about their routine & behaviours in fear that it might affect their success.

Ironically, it’s their CURRENT behaviours that usually becomes the reason why they can’t find MORE SUCCESS in their life.
“You attract what you behave”

You have probably heard me saying this before.

There are certain habits that come to people when they find success. Some of those habits & behaviours become responsible for limiting their growth

1. Track your progress.

You can't manage what you can't track.
Are you building habits? Track them!
Find a way to track your progress.
Write your progress down.
2. Journal.

Journaling is a very effective way to coach yourself.
And a journal can be more patient that a human coach.
Ask yourself questions, write down your thoughts, know your weaknesses... Be self-aware.

1 — It starts with a desire

Every goal starts with a decision & a genuine desire to make it happen

When there is no desire, there is no passion, no willpower to make it happen. If you can't change your mindset, don’t read on, you will not follow through

You must decide
2 — Identify your strengths

Competence is key.

Employers exchange money for your services. The greater the services you provide, the better your value.

You have to get really good in your field to get more money. You need to be better than average.

Your habits become your values, your values become your destiny. Here are 10 #productivity habits for #ambitious people. (Thread) #personaldevelopment #selfimprovement
- Start your day early. If you have an early morning appointment, get up at least an hour before that.
- Practice critical thinking. Don't just take things on the surface value.
- Bias towards action. When you're stuck, when you're given a new piece of information, or when you're feeling dissatisfied being in your comfort zone, take an action, however small that action may be.

CORE VALUES versus ACQUIRED VALUES

Each of us operates on two different, but competing sets of values: Core and acquired values!

But what are they, where do they originate from and how do they support or block us from being our true selves?

Let's take a deep dive👇
/1
CORE VALUES: They give us pure joy, they are things that matter more than anything else. Our core values are inherent, meaning that we act on them without any extrinsic influences or rewards. We cannot help it, we naturally act on those values, because that is who we are.
/2
ACQUIRED VALUES: We all acquire values from many outside sources during our development. They reflect social norms and attitudes and are things we use to judge or compare ourselves with others.

But here’s the problem: 👇

THE POWER OF DECISIONS

Decisions make a man. You are a product of the decisions you made years ago. We make decisions on a daily basis and the decisions we make today have impact on where we will be tomorrow and in the years to come.

#management #personaldevelopment
Many years ago, you decided to complete your secondary school education and proceeded to the tertiary institution. You could have decided otherwise but you knew that the consequence of not moving forward your education will not be favourable.

#management #personaldevelopment
Every decision made has consequences. Not making a decision is a decision in itself. Being slow in taking decision is also a decision and all these have varying consequences.

Quiting is good, actually. A thread 🧵 #personaldevelopment
Many of us are stuck in the wrong jobs and due to this idea of not quitting, we waste a lot of productive years.
We don’t quit because of a cognitive bias known as the sunk cost fallacy, which basically means we continue to do something that is not helping us, but because we have already invested our time, energy and resources.

My top book recommendations for data scientists to read as part of their personal development.
#datascience #personaldevelopment

In the Data Science Venn diagram a data scientist exists at the convergence of skills in mathematics & statistics, hacking and domain expertise¹. But alongside this is the importance of soft skills in data science roles².

To be effective a data scientist should possess strong communication skills; be able to negotiate & persuade stakeholders; to lead projects & teams to success, in a range of commercial or industrial environments. This motivated me to compile this list of book recommendations. 3/

Prime example of how #MindVirus works. It's all tied up with #Identity & #Tribalism & the basic human need to be part of a community. Once you belong, your #LizardBrain is primed to defend the system out of fear. Threaten the thought system, threaten the identity /1 #Exvangelical
When I look at the #Exvangelical phenomena, I see #SocialEvolution at work. Driven by a group of individuals who've reached a level of #personaldevelopment that allows them to become objective of former thought systems & their limitations. The old beliefs now seen as harmful. /2
The former beliefs & thought system becomes "ego alien" which results in resistance in many ways. Anger being prominent, but many feel a need to change the old system. They feel an empathy for those still ensnared in limiting, harmful beliefs. They try to reach out only to find/3

Apart from the random greetings I get on the streets and the Facebook friend requests I get from them, I believe that these secondary school students will either form the next generation of thugs or responsible citizens.
I think we have enough thugs, hence, my sweat!
I have come to agree that our society is a living organism with many parts which means that the ills of a part will affect the health of every other part of the society.
