I see there's discussion in the #warhammer40k world again about female space marines and guys saying they are loyal fans and will abandon Games Workshops if the introduce female head kits and more female characters.

These oldschool guys have already have big armies and are really only buying bits and pieces of the brand new stuff.

let's talk about this some more—the fact that @elonmusk and @mtaibbi and other villains of the world truly do resemble *cartoon* villains, comic-book villains...partly because they all copy their styles from cartoons and comic-books. but then, so do people who aren't evil.

I've got nothing against people who copy their style from, I dunno, Sailor Pluto or Kamen Rider Ghost or whatever other really *heroic* people are to be found in popular entertainment. it's not copying comic books that's the @elonmusk problem; it's copying the Bad Guysâ„¢.

1/ Using Steam as a single measurement, #warhammer40k #Darktide appears to be off to a good start. Sales have been in the top revenue for a 3 weeks. Throw that #PCGamePass payment in there and Fatshark is likely pleased with results.
2/ There are reasons to buy Darktide on Steam, especially with multiplayer not working across digital storefronts. That said, there isn't much to the idea (today) that GP is eating into traditional sales. GP simply isn't in a phase where that kind of impact is appreciable.
3/ Consider the scenario where #Xbox Game Pass has millions more people in the program (perhaps 80 million). That would probably be a different conversation.

You asked, so here it is. A nerdy thread on #AstraMilitarum logistics in the #Warhammer40K universe - a side project of mine. Mixes background with my own experiences as a staffer and reading as a historian. Many guesses and assumptions. Collar tabs must be this red to enter.
This all started with a spreadsheet that lists each company type's supply requirement, how much it weighs, and how long it takes to use up. e.g. a gasmask canister weights 2kg, needs replacing every 10 days, so you need 200g of gasmask canisters/person/day.
There's three consumption figures - one for static, one for defensive ops, one for attack. Eg. a standard ten-platoon #Krieg infantry company needs 4,500kg of supplies/day when static, rising to 33,000kg when attacking.
There's a difference between a con-artist and a grifter. A con-artist is just a gabby mugger, and when they vanish with your money, you know you've been robbed.

Step 1: Base coat all the areas you want black with Eshin Grey.
Keep the paint thin and do two or three coats. Use a big enough brush to keep the paint smooth. For a model this size I use a small or medium base brush.
