By far the most harmful thing about public schools like Eton and Harrow is the unwarranted confidence they instill in pupils.

When you see politicians claiming they know better than CEOs, economists and experts, that'll often be public school confidence leading them astray.

That over-inflated sense of self-worth, and total belief in one's ability to do anything one puts one's mind to, are why we're in the Brexit mess we are now.

You also have to wonder whether the headmasters and teachers who presided over our political elites are secretly bursting with pride at the positions of influence they've achieved, or appalled at the death of reason in the face of Brexit? I guess we'll never know for sure.
