Audit reports are prepared and released like clockwork every year. EVERY YEAR, regardless of who's sitting in either offices. Bakit biglang considered premature ang report nang magtanong ang COA bakit hindi nagamit or hindi nagamit nang maayos ang P67 bilyon ng DOH? #BudgetWatch
Parang investigative report 'yang audit report. May deadline. When you've been given enough time to dispute or comment on the findings pero di kayo sumagot, itatakbo ang istorya. May pasabi lang na kung finally ay sasagot kayo, ia-update ang istorya. #BudgetWatch
Gentlemen, precisely because we're in extraordinary times, in a time of emergency, and we need urgency, kaya nagtanong ang COA:

Bakit hindi ninyo ginamit o inilabas ang bilyon-bilyong pisong nakalaan na panserbisyo sa mga nagkakasakit at namamatay na kababayan? #BudgetWatch

So, a 2005 blueprint to fight an #airborne #virus arriving in Britain was lost, filed away in Whitehall, and apparently never used.

Now uncovered, its recommendations included limiting travel and stopping ‘super-spreader’ events - lessons not learned.

independent.co.uk/news/health/co

The @Independent reports that, 'One senior medical adviser who served in Downing Street throughout the last decade said they were “totally surprised” to learn of the blueprint, despite having worked in emergency health planning and pandemic preparedness'.

independent.co.uk/news/health/co

The @Independent reports that 'the 2005 plan put together by the #DoH, warns of spread via “finer aerosols of infectious respiratory secretions, which stay in the air longer than droplets”, meaning it can be passed from one person to another through the nose, mouth or even eyes.'

Statistics from 226599 DNS-over-HTTPS requests made to an upstream load-balanced group of 8 #DoH servers over Tor, by a DoHoT proxy, including responses served from local cache.

This includes what the proxy sees, not only what the user experiences. Image
More than 25% of requests are served back to the user from the cache.

In the event that the request needs to be sent upstream, the median response time back to the user is 241ms.

If we *remove* locally-cached responses, this is closer to what the raw proxy experiences: Image
So if you're just doing raw DoH over Tor and are round-robin-ing a pool of servers without caching or tracking response time, the median request time will be around 453ms and p90 will be 1153ms.

tl;dr - caching + load-balancing + tracking-speed, is essential.

Here's the pool: Image

@Paul_IPv6 @letoams You're both repeating what I said, but that's fair if (though experiment:) you believe in some absolute truth in DNS - which is a common and understandable belief, because we tend to assume that there is only one DNS, only one system, and that it is global.
@Paul_IPv6 @letoams If you polytheisticly follow the thought experiment and admit is just "a system" rather than some omniscient and single store of truth ("the DNS is true, the DNS is one") then you are squarely back in the land of trusting your upstream priest/resolver. [typo fixed]
@Paul_IPv6 @letoams DNSSEC is nowhere, and we have no global truth to "rely" upon, and anyway if we did would probably be a bad thing to go around and blindly trust what our local DNS church simply tells us.

Lacking such, it's better to build a relationship with just one resolver, & use them.

"DoH" is an expression many associate with this guy 👇👇👇 rather than a web-based encryption technology at the center of political controversy.

1/18
DoH is a controversial technology that obfuscates which websites you look-up (and visit) by encrypting your DNS requests.

Its development recently drawing the ire of telcos, ISPs as well as UK and US regulators.

Now that I have had some time to recover from the fact that the opaque #IETF protocols I study are front-page news, here are some thoughts on DoH from an anthro who spends a lot of time w the companies that develop & implement it.

@CarolineGreer @lseufer > do you trust your ISP or Cloudflare more?

Would you trust them on a train?
Would you trust them on a plane?
If you'd just walked in through the door,
Would you trust Cloudflare, or a café's ISP, more?
@CarolineGreer @lseufer I would! I would trust Cloudflare more!
I would trust them on a plane,
I would trust them on a train,
with #DoH enabled I could trust in DNS more!
without a portal capture,
without a redirect,
with #DoH I'll get an answer that my query would expect.
@CarolineGreer @lseufer But could you not use #DoT?
Isn't that how things should be?
If lacking trust you have to guess,
could you not use TLS?

It’s #Monday, I’m boozing it up at a 4 seat bar, the #barkeep is a long pourer, and I’m all fucking set if I get something stuck between my teeth.👇🙃 #RandomThoughts #drinking #OutAndAbout
Shooting the shit with a friend, she’s proud to be doing well with her plants - unusual for her.

The key was a #video explaining the benefits of pruning.

She needs REASONS. She got them.

Apparently, pruning in a particular manner stimulates growth hormones.

Of course, this led to me initiating a discussion about the #movie I just watched on Hulu, called “The German Doctor.”

The main character was Josef Mengele. #ThisHappened

People, this is why I’m known in my circles as “The Black Hole Of Conversation.” SMTH

"DNS privacy panel" with @PowerDNS_Bert, @bortzmeyer and @bagder, moderated by @jpmens and introduced by @habbie #FOSDEM
@PowerDNS_Bert First controversy ongoing: @badger arguing in favor of DoH because "you didn't select your DNS server anyway" (my interpretation) whereas @PowerDNS_Bert sees missing expressed consent #DNS #DoH #DoT #FOSDEM
As @bortzmeyer adds, one of the biggest problems currently is the lack of choice amongst DoH providers. Need more software and deployment of those, concentration is not a technical problem of DoH. #DNS #DoH #DoT #FOSDEM

A blind spot for designers and is overestimating the value of HCI knowledge. In any organization, it's mastery of skills in HHI (Human to human) and HGI (Human to Group) interaction that defines how effective you will be.
