1. on 22nd April Kober prison, where former Sudanese president al-Bashir is detained, was attacked by RSF. As per the reports former Sudanese President Al-Bashir has escaped from the prison. As you can see in this animation there was some intense convection over the the #Ethiopian highlands and Sudan today, certainly more than we have seen for a fair few days.
Here we see a wider angle view of today' convection over the horn before sunset. This storm is continuing strongly into the night. Question of the day is, is this signalling the beginning of the big rainy season for the horn.

Admittedly the rain is very light. But it is June and close to Solstice, the hottest month in this part of the world. Here we see the broader picture. The #EuropeBigWet is continuing in a fairly stable pattern for another 48 hours still.

The deadly conflict between Ethiopia and its northern region of Tigray spilled over the border Tuesday as several thousand people fled to Sudan, along with soldiers seeking refuge,
while the regional leader of Tigray accused Eritrea of attacking at the request of the federal government of Ethiopia. In the meantime, the United Nations and its allies in Sudan are planning, at least initially, to receive 20,000 refugees.
So far, hundreds of people on both sides of the conflict have been confirmed killed, one diplomat in the capital, Addis Ababa, said. It was still hard to verify either side 's claims. For sparking the fight, each blames the other.
