I've decided to do a daily tweet throughout 2020 with something I've learned about Bitcoin. Hopefully come Dec 31st I'll have a juicy thread that I can look back on realise how much I've learned.
They likely wont follow any specific theme but will all be Bitcoin related. Where possible I will reference who/where I learned the info from

Today is Jan 14th so I'm starting a little late but here goes.
Jan 14th - Today in Bitcoin I learned...

How to connect my @ElectrumWallet mobile app to my own node to have a watch only wallet that I can trustlessly and privately over @torproject receive Bitcoin with no xPub leaks.

Thanks to someone in the @mynodebtc telegram group

Long Reads Sunday #37.

Some weeks, LRS is aaaaall news. This week, however, the crypto community came *hard* with research, analysis, and debate so thoughtful you’ll hope the bear market never ends. 🔥

Carve out some *serious* time for this. Thread👇
2/ On the topic of the bear market, one of the commonly held sensibilities of the past year is that while users might not be flocking to crypto, developers are. @cburniske argues here that it’s because “can’t be evil” matters more to them.
3/ Turns out, this sensibility about devs is correct. According to some amazing new research from @ElectricCapital, the number of devs working on public coins has doubled in 2 years - more than 4k devs contribute code to 2.8k projects.

Panel on Landing Bitcoin on the Moon with @_JustinMoon_ @pierre_rochard and @JackMallers #MITBitcoinExpo
You don't really need to know anything to start using Bitcoin, you should just buy $20 worth (not your life savings) and start playing with it. Using and interacting with Bitcoin is the best way to learn.
The hardest thing for Merchants using Bitcoin is price volatility. Another big challenge is goat on ramps, but there is excitement from grayish industries like marijuana for a solution that can't get shut down arbitrarily.

Here is a step by step guide for whoever wins the node!
Open the beautiful white box and it comes with an AC power supply & 3 international adapters, an ethernet cable, a cable for the hard drive. (Not @ProfFeynman book unfortunately, apologies for the bad photo)
The next few steps are well described in the Casa instruction guide
1. Plug the hard drive adapter cable into your Casa node
2. Plug the ethernet cable into your Casa node and Wi-Fi router
3. Plug the power cable
4. Wait for a few minutes impatiently
