Women Can’t Be Forced To Choose Between Right To Education And Reproductive Autonomy: Delhi High Court @nupur_0111 #DelhiHC livelaw.in/high-court/del…
“The Constitution as adopted on 26th of November, 1949 served as a pledge that the citizens of India made to themselves. A pledge to disassociate ourselves from the parochial notions of society that prevented the ushering of equality,” #DelhiHighCourt #MaternityLeave
Court: It was without any form of equivocation that the people asserted their right to be treated equally. Irrespective of gender, race, religion or caste, citizens were to claim their opportunities.

Can’t talk about #womenshealth w/o mentioning #maternal death -unfortunately on the rise in America...how does one of the richest countries have the highest rate of maternal & infant mortality?🧵npr.org/sections/healt… @acog @ACOGPregnancy
We have high c-sx rates, low prenatal care, high chronic disease rates in our mothers. Post-partum care is a single visit at 6 weeks. Working pregnant moms may opt to induce labor for the 'convenience' of optimizing their leave...
Speaking of leave, the US is the one of the ONLY industrialized countries to NOT have ANY paid parental leave. If that doesn't reveal value in a society, I don't know what does. Punchline: the value isn't in family. No wonder our divorce rates and rates of mental health and… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

1/ CLB investigated three cases of #women workers in #China facing #discrimination and rights violations related to #maternityleave. We found these incidents through local governments' online message boards and referred the cases to the union. Read more: clb.org.hk/content/three-…
2/ Regarding family leave policies, the ACFTU has the opportunity to ensure both that workers' rights are protected and that state policy goals are upheld, contributing to the union’s political and practical missions. However, in these three cases, the union was not eager to act.
3/ The ACFTU’s Charter requires all levels of the union to est women workers’ committees, which should conduct research, draft policies, and advise on legislation concerning the rights of women workers. In CLB's investigations, however, these committees were not easily reachable.

We need to end the narrative that breastfeeding depletes mothers.

Breastfeeding reduces post partum haemorrhage, postnatal depression, heart attacks, strokes, dementia, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and autoimmune disease.  It's a sound investment and one most families want.
Instead we should focus attention on the midwifery crisis, overstretched GPs and health visitors, the determinants of birth trauma, gender based violence, a paternalistic medical culture, a lack of fully funded maternity leave, health and social inequality, systemic racism,
lack of flexible working, lack of high quality affordable childcare, barriers to parental leave, a gender pay gap, fuel poverty, formula poverty, food insecurity AND a society that doesn't value the caregiving that only they can give.

I’m very proud of my wife @HelenRibee for passing another ED exam leaving just the OSCE part C to go for MRCEM.

She is pretty amazing. Wife, mother of 2. Or 3 if you count me. Manages the house and finances and organising, even when I do try and share this.

She went on may leave for our first, B, and whilst away from work had a radical change of heart and decided to go back switching to ED.

She *chose* not to go into training. Trainees in the region get flung all over the god-darn area.

Child. Life. Etc. Plus all …
