Henri Julien Félix Rousseau was born in 1844 in Laval, a market town in northwest France. His work is said to belong to the Naïve or Primitive style. The 1870s and 80s saw an #Impressionist wave in Europe. Rousseau's #art moves in a new brisk direction from impressionist roots.
Rousseau took painting pretty later on in his life, in his forties. At 49, he retired from his job as a customs clerk on the outskirts of the city to paint full-time. He was known by the nickname Le Douanier or customs officer for the same reason.
Well this is interesting, Google is honoring #SylviaPlaths birthday today... No mention of this by Google of course but just looking into her story for 5 minutes reveals her husband Ted Hughes introduced her to occult practices- contacting Pan?..

Fell into a 90s/00s #suicide anthem music loop this afternoon and it reminded me of how depressed I have been in the past and how depressed I am now, again, and how much we still don't discuss #depression in this society.

It's a good piece on writers & suicide, with an emphasis on #LGBT suicides because we kill ourselves more (thanks #homophobia/#transphobia)than str8 people.
Society still romanticizes #depression instead of treating it.
