In 2015, I tried to warn Nairalanders about PMB's red flags. I dug up information about his involvement in the 1966 anti-Igbo coup (ethnocentrism with genocidal potential), his sending of soldiers into markets to whip prices down (poor understanding of economics), /1
his decree 4 which criminalized criticising govt officials even truthfully (low tolerance for free speech), and his stubborn authoritarian approach to govt. People didn't care because they felt that he couldn't possibly be worse than Goodluck Jonathan. The rest is history. /2
PMB has manifested all of the red flags.
He allowed and defended the massacre of Shiites (genocidal potential). He allowed killer herdsmen and Fulani terrorists, and bandits to wreck havoc all over the country with impunity because he sees them as his brothers (ethnocentrism). /3

One of my best friends offline is @ose_anenih, and for quite a few years he kept warning me about the error of my ways in my rather (at the time) stubborn stance in refusing to use my block button.

Thanks to Buhari's #TwitterBan, I saw how criminally naive I was in that stance.
Some people who come to one's mentions to chat shit do so with no measure of good faith. They aren't here to learn, they are here to worship their god, and derail your thoughts.

Flee from such demons of the twitterverse as they make your experience ugly.

I just blocked a few.
Considering the fact that I complained about our lack of tourism on this twitter before 2015 (the app has a search function), and complained about same theme back when I was active on @nairaland (pre 2010, again you can search), how the fuck was yesterday's thread about Buhari?

Each morning I come onto @Twitter I pray there is some kind of @Hopeforjustice for #AmbroseGGBall.

But instead to witness @DavidLammy posting the most #sadistic #Facebook post to date knowing how he has treated the mother of murdered @forambrose1984 leaving her with a body in
@haringeycouncil without a single word from @NCLCCG_Haringey or #AndrewWalker since last June 2020.

Toni aka Ruth Lovell has been telling @GREATBritain how she has been treated by @metpoliceuk @MPSBarnet @MPSHaringey @MPSEnfield @CPSUK @IOPC_Help #CindyButts, @VpoDr

(Thread 1/3): Joined @DLoesch on @TheFirstonTV this afternoon to explain why so many corporations are forcing vaccine mandates on their employees.
(2/3): Vaccines for Polio or Chicken Pox took decades to complete and the risk to children was significant. The #CovidVaccine is not tested, the risk to children is practically zero, and its efficacy is questionable. Imposing this on everybody is crazy.
(3/3): The #FirstAmendment allows criticism of the government, corporations, and powerful people. What we have here is direct evidence of the government working with social media companies to censor private speech critical of the government. #Twitterban

Twitter obviously doesn’t want this tweet to trend — I appreciate all help from patriots to make it so nevertheless. This is not just “but muh free markets” people /- this is the government using social media co-conspirators to silence government critics. Next it could be you!
And I want to thank, as @TuckerCarlson mentioned, @JudicialWatch for the important groundwork for this and so many other lawsuits. Thanks to their FOIA and state public records work, we have receipts.

This @elrufai tweet clearly illustrates the dangerous perception folks like him have of "power" & "control" in a constitutional democracy governed as a republic. Though his opinion is not shared in the op-ed, the tweet shows exactly where @GovKaduna leans. Thread***@SERAP
@NebojsaMalic's op-ed praises "BASED" Nigeria for teaching the US how to respond to "tech tyranny" and compares Trump's "toothless" response to his #twitterban with Nigeria's 2 day-rapid response ban of @Twitter. @elrufai seems to agree with pride! rt.com/op-ed/525727-n…
@NebojsaMalic op-ed is problematic on many levels. First, the assumption that #TwitterBanNigeria could be a teachable moment for the #USA or is indicative of the responsiveness of the @MBuhari govt to ANY aspect of governance is at best ignorant! vanguardngr.com/2021/03/insecu…

TRIAS POLITICA (Separation of Powers)

The concept, TRIAS POLITICA was developed by 18th Century French philosopher Charles Louis de Secondat, baron de la Brede et de Montesquieu in his publication Spirit of the Laws. #Malami #TwitterBan #KeepitOn #VPNs #LaiMohammed #Bubu
Baron M asserts that the political authority of the state should be divided into three powers: legislative, judicial, and executive. These three powers must be separate, operated by different persons, and independently. #Malami #TwitterBan #KeepitOn #VPNs #LaiMohammed #Bubu
The separation of these powers is a key element of the principle of “checks and balances” designed to prevent tyranny, concentration, or abuse of power by “kind bullies” or their overexcitable agents. #Malami #TwitterBan #KeepitOn #VPNs #LaiMohammed #Bubu

General Buhari: Your Time Is Up!

For far too long, we have allowed the Buhari administration dismiss & downplay the impact & reach of social media on our culture, governance & economy.
We let them lie blatantly about how we were simply wasting our time, called us miscreants, tried to delegitimize our collective power to advocate for ourselves on a global platform. We persevered, we mobilized, we crowdfunded, we advocated.
But once our online power began to spill offline, into the streets of Akwuzu, Ikeja, Lekki, Barnawa and Wuse, the government acknowledged us in the only way they seem to value; reactionary violence.

So far, @USinNigeria, @EUinNigeria, and @AusHCAbuja remained silent on #TwitterBan, standing by as Nigerian democracy sharply backslides before our eyes. @UKinNigeria has spoken, but too softly. Only @CanHCNigeria and @NicolasJSimard has sounded the alarm. 1/
For the umpteenth time, I will make the observation that @USinNigeria @AsstSecStateAF and, in many instances, @UKinNigeria policy toward Nigeria is broadly failing because it demonstrably does not *in fact* prioritize democracy and governance in the ways it purports to do. 2/
Both countries over-prioritize their relationships with Nigeria's kleptocratic, incompetent, and authoritarian elites at their expense of their relationship with Nigerians writ large. In doing so, they will be on the wrong side of history as Nigeria barrels further off course. 3/

Amnesty International condemns the Nigerian government’s suspension of Twitter @Twitter in #Nigeria🇳🇬 — a social media widely used by Nigerians to exercise their human rights, including their rights to freedom of expression and access to information. #TwitterBan
We call on the #Nigerian authorities to immediately reverse the unlawful suspension and other plans to gag the media, repress the civic space, and undermine Nigerians' human rights. #TwitterBan
This action is clearly inconsistent and incompatible with Nigeria's international obligations including under the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. #TwitterBan #Nigeria

#Twitter & #Facebook are not getting #banned but If these significant social media intermediaries don't comply with the #ITRules they could however lose the safe harbor protection which means they could incur liability (civil & criminal) for the acts done by third party users.
The Rules could also undermine the principles of open & accessible internet, the fundamental #RightToPrivacy & #FreeSpeech & expression enshrined in the Constitution.

The #informationtechnology Rules, 2021 (#ILRules) which have been prescribed by the #Centralgovt under Section 79 of the IT Act are a set of compliances which the intermediaries have to abide by, in order to keep the safe harbor protection intact.

(3/8)
