NEW: @PGE4Me's federal probation judge, William Alsup, demands answers on the #DixieFire and #FlyFire.

He asks about the tree that fell on PG&E's power line at the Dixie origin point-- demands inspection images showing what it looked like before it fell.

This judge found PG&E committed safety violations in the 2020 #ZoggFire, which killed four people.

He based that finding in part on 2019 inspection photos of the power line, showing the tree leaning in the power line's direction.

NEW: PG&E's bankruptcy and legal costs will be up to $2.7 billion, $30 million more than its previous projections.

More notes from today's quarterly earnings call below...

$pcg @KQEDnews

Interim CFO Chris Foster said that increase in costs "reflects a final adjustment...
...required to the fair value of the equity backstop fee based on the share price at the beginning of July."

On September's #ZoggFire:
An analyst on the call asked why PG&E hadn't cut power where the fire sparked. Foster: "the wind speeds in those areas didn't meet the general..
..requirements we have in place."
Wind speeds near where the Zogg Fire started were 15mph, with 32mph gusts
PG&E's PSPS standard is 25mph, with 45mph gusts, said Foster. Wind speeds are just one factor in PSPS decisions, along with humidity and others.

1/6 I’ve been volunteering to produce online wildland fire maps for about the last 10 years. The #1 thing to know is that any fire data you see on maps is **not real time**. There are 2 MODIS satellites and 2 VIIRS satellites. #GlassFire #GlassIncident #ZoggFire
2/6 The MODIS/VIIRS satellites make a total of 8 passes per 24 hours. For the West Coast very rough timing is midnight to 3am (4 passes) and noon to 3pm (4 passes). It takes NASA ~3 hours to process the raw data before it can be displayed on any map.
3/6 Usually by 7am pacific time the maps are showing all the MODIS/VIIRS data that is available until sometime after 3pm. Hotspot locations are approximate and sometimes the data is ‘false positive’.

Smoky skies are once again back in the Bay Area due to the fast-moving #GlassFire burning in the North Bay.

Smoke from two other fires, the #NorthComplexFire in Butte County and the #ZoggFire near Redding, could contribute to the problem.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District has a Spare the Air Alert in effect on Monday, and wood burning is banned.

The @NWS forecast said, "Strong winds aloft are keeping the smoke elevated but as winds weaken later this morning and afternoon, smoke will begin to settle."

Three separate wildfires in Napa and Sonoma counties - the #GlassFire, #ShadyFire and #BoysenFire - have burned through 11,000 acres, devoured dozens of homes and triggered thousands of evacuations in only a little over 24 hours.

The #GlassFire was first reported as a 20-acre blaze at 4 am Sunday in Deer Park.

The Shady/Boysen fires, reported near the Napa-Sonoma county line, are believed to be spot fires of the Glass Fire
