Two avid sports fans plan to travel 40 miles to see a basketball game
One of them paid for his ticket
Other got one for free from a friend
A blizzard is announced for the night of the game.
Which of the two ticket holders is more likely to brave the blizzard to see the game?
The fan who paid for his ticket will be more determined to see the match because ‘he has more to lose’
Even as we articulate our answer, we realise the flaw in it. The money is already gone.
Taking the additional risk of driving in a snowstorm will not get it back.

As @JPSoucy points out in this excellent 🧵, we have a experienced a considerable drop in testing. The question we don't know is: how many should we be testing? @skepticalIDdoc and other super-smart people suggest keeping our eye on %+. I am going to try to reframe the problem.
I will start off by saying this:
"cases" are numerator
"tests performed" are denominator
"% positivity" are cases/tests performed

If you do 20 surveillance tests (i.e. in asymptomatics) in a school, or 200, the % positivity will remain the same, but the "cases" will increase.
Cases matter.
They theoretically matter to the case (so they can receive treatment if they need it).
They should matter to public health to identify contacts (who may be infected) #ContactTracing
They should matter to everyone if we are treating them as surveillance.

A thought strikes me browsing through the never ending online catalog of Apparel, that Apparel shopping is so much different than other type of shopping. Wouldn't it be great to swipe right & left like Tinder to be selective for first few minutes that will filter through the
catalog incrementally (ai) in real time. In the real world this is called window shopping!
Bombarding with XXXX numbers of items and tons of filters in the catalog is a complete disgrace to Hick's Law.

I've been finishing the second volume of "The Manufacturing of Greta Thunberg for Consent" series. As soon as I ventured near social media I was inundated with the Amazon fires messaging.
The World Economic Forum (billionaires club): "...the house is clearly on fire - We need to scale solutions now if we have any chance of saving it."

Corporations burning forests for palm oil: not frightening.
Forest fires: frightening.

Only the markets can save us.

Certification schemes. Green Bonds. A "New Deal For Nature". We need momentum. We need that "Paris moment".
