#Bhakti
#Narasin_Mehta, also known as Narasin Bhagat, was a 15th century poet-saint of Gujarat, India. Honoured as the first poet or Adi Kavi of Gujarati language, Narasingha became a devotee of Krishna and devoted his life to composing poetic works described as bhakti or Image
devotion to Krishna. His bhajans have been popular in Gujarat and Rajasthan for over 5 centuries. Narasingh was mute till the age of eight. He started speaking only after meeting a holy man who made him chant the phrase "Rade Shyam". Narasin and his wife Manekbai lived in the
house of his elder brother Panshidar, but Panshidar's wife treated them badly. She was a bad woman who mocked and humiliated Narasingh many times. One day, when her taunts and insults were too much for Narasingha, he left the house and went to a nearby forest to seek some peace,

What are the stages of Bhakti?

A thread. 🧵

#bhakti #spirituality Image
Of the many paths to finding one's truth, the path of Bhakti is the most beautiful.

If one is to realise their truth through Bhakti, it requires
complete surrender.
As they say, Rome was not built in a day. The same goes for the path of Bhakti.

A bond between a Bhakt and His Bhagavān requires time to strengthen, mature and blossom.

Every day early morning a little girl would come to the temple, stand before the deity, close her eyes and with folded hands, murmur something for a couple of minutes. Then open her eyes, bow down, smile and go out running. This was a daily affair. Image
The temple Poojari was observing her and was curious about what she was doing. He thought, she is too small to know the deeper meanings of religion. She would hardly know any prayers. But then what was she doing every morning in the temple?
15 days passed and Poojari now couldn’t
resist but to find out more about her behaviour. One morning, Poojari reached there before the girl and was waiting for her to complete her ritual. “My child, I have seen since the last 15 days that you come here regularly. What do you do?"

“ I pray,” She said spontaneously.

#MahaPeriyava Once some learned people were conversing with Sri Maha Periyava. Even though the topic was on a high level Vedantic matter, Periyava’s talk and the language was so simple that even an illiterate could understand it easily. It was different from the lectures normally
delivered by Pundits. At that time, a young man from Australia came there to have His darshan. The young man was doing research on the comparison of various religions and he could speak small sentences in Sanskrit. After the normal enquiries, Periyava asked him what he wanted.
“How should I be? How should I live? What is way of life? What is the way to perform good deeds in life and to get good results?” The young man piled his queries, politely. After a few minutes silence, Periyava said, “All that is okay. But why come here (Kalavai was the place)

#Thread on #divyadesams. Divya Desams are Sri Vishnu temples which the 12 Vaishnava saints or the Azhwars have sung in their hymns in praise of Sri Vishnu. There are 108 Divya Desams, 106 can be visited in mortal life. The other two are in the celestial abode of Sri Vishnu. Image
#azhwar means ‘immersed’. Azhwars are considered to be devotees of Vishnu who have fully immersed themselves in #bhakti. They lived between 5th-8th centuries CE, composing hymns in praise of Sri Vishnu. Their songs are compiled as #DivyaPrabandham containing 4000 verses.
106 #DivyaDesam temples one can visit in this life are located in TN (85), Kerala (11) Uttar Pradesh (4) Uttarakhand (3) Andhra (2) Gujarat (1) and Muktinath in Nepal. It is the dream of every Sri Vaishnava to visit Divya Desams in his/her lifetime. SS via shaktipeethas.org Image
