FYI: Reports that a marijuana research bill may come to a floor vote next week may not be true. It's listed on the House docs site, but I just heard from a reliable source there might have been a clerical error. Waiting for further confirmation one way or another. #cannabisnews
UPDATE: the Medical Marijuana Research Act has been removed from the docs.house.gov "may vote" list. Still no word from House leadership but this seems to confirm what I was told about it being an error. #cannabisnews

The email also references language added to the HEROES Act -- the coronavirus bill the House passed in May -- which would make banking services more accessible for the cannabis industry. At the time it was billed as a public health issue b/c it would end cash transactions.
Even back in May/June, Republicans took shots at House Dems over including the #SAFEBanking Act in the HEROES covid bill. Even minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif) who voted for the banking bill in the House, said it didn't belong in the HEROES bill.

On July 27, the @DNC voted against an amendment to its official 2020 policy platform. This amendment would've supported the legalization of medicinal & recreational cannabis across the country; however, it was sharply rejected with a sweeping 50-106 vote.

Vote is technically over but there are 27 who haven’t voted yet.
Here's a portion of the amendment introduced by @SenFeinstein @ChuckGrassley and @brianschatz to the Senate defense spending bill. It would increase the # of producers, pave the way for universities to produce for research, and make importing medical cannabis easier.
It would also stipulate that state-licensed doctors can discuss medical marijuana with patients in states that have legalized its use. Some doctors already do; but this would codify the acceptability. #cannabisnews
