Aufklärung über mentale Gesundheit beinhaltet oft diese Botschaft: "Psychische Störungen denken sich Menschen nicht aus. Sie sind echte Erkrankungen". Ich verstehe diese Idee und ich teile das Anliegen. Aber manche Verkürzungen zu diesem Thema können zu Problemen führen. 1/

Es ist kein Zufall, dass #Psychotherapeut*innen Störungen (engl. disorders) diagnostizieren, Ärzt*innen aber Erkrankungen (engl. diseases). 2/

Es fehlen im deutschen differenzierte Begriffe wie im Englischen: Begriffe wie #condition und #disorder haben eine andere Bedeutung als #disease, #sickness und #illness. Die ICD erscheint (genauso wie das DSM) auf Englisch und wird dann übersetzt ins Deutsche. 3/

#Covid lockdowns were an unusual gift. Watching my roses wilt, leathers crack, convictions shake, relationships dull and few loved ones taken away, I came to appreciate the essence of #chaos in a non-mathematical way.

Riding the upstoppable arrow of #time, chaos can, and will take over everything – it's a question of when, not if. Spending 20+ hours for a whole year at home, I personally witnessed new order derive from, and decay back into chaos – yes, #entropy grows.

The silent master of #change, it lurks at the edge of all organisation, constantly tugging at equilibrium, ever ready to topple it into countless permutations of form, flavor and function. And through these, it shapes our shared, mortal destinies, at all #resolutions.

Contemplating the sound question "what are they trying to sell me?" is always a legitimate/wise exercise.

If the "ideological protectors of concentrated global capital" wanted you to remain calm - the media, in lockstep, would mirror & amplify this desire. Instead we witness a psychological terror campaign waged against populace - w/ a growing acceptance/demand of fascist measures.

Many of the observations from the 2016 article, "Why We’re Living in the Age of Fear" can be explored in relation to what we bear witness to, at present moment. Our #fear is very easy to #manipulate. "We're #wired to respond to it above everything else"
