Contraception is an essential part of sexuality. It is a deliberate prevention of conception. Contraceptives are meant for sexually active people within reproductive age (married or unmarried). Though not 100% effective, they significantly reduce your chances of getting pregnant Image
It is a bad idea to not use any when you're not ready to be pregnant.

METHODS:
Condom: About 97% effective. It is a barrier method that prevents Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) and unwanted pregnancy. It is available for male and female. ImageImageImageImage
Oral contraceptives: These are hormonal (synthetic form of female hormones) pills taken daily to prevent pregnancy. They are also useful for the correction of certain hormonal imbalance. If taken religiously, it is about 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. Image

A hopeful 🧵re: improving #globalhealth through #Decolonizingglobalhealth #antiracism efforts—some examples of positive change:

@DGH_LSHTM & #blacklivesmatter groups gathered signatures from 100's of staff, students, & alumni calling for leadership to examine the school's past
...listen to personal accounts of discrimination.

These groups have influenced the hiring of a postdoc to research it’s #colonial history & legacy. We wrote about Her findings & the calls for change from #DGH & #BLM groups & hope the leadership will act.
Other global #publichealth universities like @dukedecolonize @KarolinskaDGH @EdinburghUni @DecolonizeGh (@HarvardChanSPH) have hosted conferences to critically examine & challenge west/white centric curricula

We would first like to point out that, we do not use the term “unwanted pregnancies” rather we say “unplanned pregnancies”. We find that most times, the parents-to-be might not be prepared to have/cater to a child just yet, not that the child is unwanted.
Yes there are other factors that cause Maternal mortality but it also on the increase due to having children-

1)Too early (when the pelvis is not mature enough for childbearing as in teenage pregnancy)

2) Too frequently (having children every year, no spacing)....
3)Too many children (excessive trauma to the body)

4)Too late (still getting pregnant when the woman's age can no longer withstand child bearing?)

And this is where #familyplanning and #childbirthspacing play a huge role in reducing the maternal mortality rate ✅

Here's a sample of their wares:
@PPFA goes on to describe the rule as unethical, and to claim that the rule prevent health care workers from communicating with their patients.

And, on a superficial examination, you might think that they are correct.
They aren't.
