Muslims in Europe, the United States, and Australia can now register for Hajj 2022 / 1443 through the Motawif online portal, which has been authorized by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

Following submission, an automated lottery will be conducted to select individuals to perform #Hajj 2022.

Once a person has been selected, they will be contacted to select a package and make payment via the Motawif portal before receiving a Hajj visa.

As the website is facing an influx of visitors, do note there may be delays.

A reminder that citizens and residents of Saudi Arabia must have received a COVID-19 vaccination in order to perform #Hajj this year, and an immunised individual in Saudi Arabia is defined as someone who has completed three doses of the vaccine.

L’Arabie saoudite veut reprendre la main sur le #hajj, dans une sorte de nationalisation. A terme, plus aucune agence de voyages dans le monde n’organisera le hajj. Tout sera organisé par les Saoudiens. Centralisation qui touchera aussi les entreprises saoudiennes.

Le marché du #hajj tel qu’on le connaît va disparaître.
En France, il représente 50 à 60 % du chiffre d’affaires des agences les plus anciennes dans le domaine. 100 % pour certaines, plus récentes.
Ça va être un carnage, économiquement parlant.

#Hajj les agences de voyage sont toujours dans le flou. Toujours pas de go de l'Arabie saoudite. Si dans une semaine, pas de nouvelles, le hajj ne pourra pas être organisé. "Impossible", m'indique un professionnel, qui n'écarte pas l'annulation pure et simple du pèlerinage

Il est capital, ajoute ledit professionnel, que les prétendants au #hajj soient extrêmement vigilants : « il faut être hyper attentif à qui proposent de vous emmener au hajj et comment. On ne sait toujours pas aujourd’hui ce qui va se passer. »

Le silence des autorités saoudiennes sème désarroi, colère et inquiétudes aussi au Royaume-Uni.

Why did the #Mughal Emperors not perform the #Hajj? The simple answer is that the duty of protecting the boundaries of the state, preserving law, order, public safety & rights (Hukukullah) was an absolute obligation (fardh al-ain), hence the Emperors were excused from the Hajj.

“Hajj is not incumbent upon the Sultans; they would rather sit on the throne & perform justice, lest an instigation should arise”.

17th century Fatwa by Ottoman Shaikh ul islam, Es’ad Effendi.

To make up, the Emperors would annually sponsor Hajj voyages & appoint a representative (Amir ul Hajj) to lead the pilgrims, ensure their safety, distribute gifts & charity across the holy cities, & to perform the Hajj on the emperors behalf.

The negative effect of crowd density on reported safety was moderated by social identification with the crowd. Mediation analysis suggested that a reason for these moderation effects was the perception that other crowd members were supportive.

L'accomplissement des rites du #Hajj cette année sera limité aux groupes d'âge de [18 à 65 ans] qui ont reçu le vaccin, selon les réglementations en vigueur dans le Royaume (immunisé, immunisé par une dose depuis 14 jours , ou le guéris immunisé).

Le ministère du Hajj annonce également que l'inscription est limitée pour les citoyens saoudiens et les résidents présents en #Arabie_aoudite uniquement. (60 000 inscriptions)

Le Ministère du #Hajj souligne que l'état de santé de ceux qui souhaitent effectuer le #Hajj1442/2021 doit être exempt de maladies chroniques.

I listened to @PeterBeinart on @FareedZakaria's show. He used this contrast to justify rejecting the idea of a #JCPOA rethink to include Iran's malign activities. /1

Are #Israel #KSA #UAE destabilizing the Middle East equally to or more than #Iran? This juxtaposition is used by Iran govt and sympathizers who suggest Tehran's wide network of proxies & operations in the region is not unique. Rather, it's normal. /2

Keeping #JCPOA intact is a legitimate goal but not on the basis of a fallacy. Moral and political equivalency that @PeterBeinart suggested [b/w #KSA/#Israel/#UAE and #Iran] is worth discussing. In short bursts, just key points, for the sake of informing. /3

Saudi Arabia wants to gradually allow the Muslim Umrah pilgrimage again under strict conditions after a seven-month Corona break.

The second largest pilgrimage after the so-called #Hajj was banned at the end of February due to concerns about the spread of the corona virus. As of Sunday, the small pilgrimage should initially be feasible again for believers who are in the country,

said the Saudi Interior Ministry, as the state news agency SPA reported. The small pilgrimage to the city of Mecca, which is holy for Muslims, is recommended for devout Muslims. In contrast to the great pilgrimage (Hajj), the Umrah can be performed at any time.
