The age of monolithic end-to-end CMS solutions is coming to an end (if it hasn't already ended). The modern and future web is an API-ified web where clients consume data through APIs and nimble front-ends are decoupled from the creation layer.
Right now, tools like @GatsbyJS and @nextjs make it easier to pull and combine data from existing monolithic CMSes and combining it into a coherent and performance focused front-end. From my perspective this is a stepping stone into a fully decoupled future.
Monolithic end-to-end CMS solutions like @drupal, @WordPress, @joomla, and walled gardens like @Shopify and @Wix made web publishing accessible to all. To do that, they had to be everything to everyone. This is the weak link in the system, the anachronism still living.

We're considering licensing our @nextjs @sanity_io @tailwindcss @typescript engine to other businesses.

Web devs and agencies, would you ever consider using a licensed website engine?

Not too dissimilar to what @divjoy does!

Start projects with the hard stuff done already.
The engine has a cli to quickly build pages, modules, dialogs etc.

We scaffold the whole process from frontend module to Sanity data model and storybook demo.

Our pages are all modular so adding a new module to the library makes it available across the CMS for all pages.
Pages are linked up and routed, they are infinitely nestable and a sitemap is auto generated as you go.

Pages are rebuilt by next without any manual deployments.

All pages have live preview by default.

Buttons are setup to internally link to any pages by name, so no 404s.

Next.js has taken the web dev world by storm

It’s the @reactjs framework devs rave about praising its power, flexibility, and dev experience

Don't feel like you're missing out!

Here's everything you need to know in 10 tweets

Let’s dive in 🧵
@reactjs Next.js is a @reactjs framework from @vercel

It couples a great dev experience with an opinionated feature set to make it easy to spin up new performant, dynamic web apps

It's used by many high-profile teams like @hulu, @apple, @Nike, & more

👋 Hi, I'm Marie. I used to work in advertising/branding, but during COVID taught myself how to code. In 1yr, I learned enough to launch my own SaaS product. Still learning every day, but hoping this can inspire others who are looking to make a career change. It is possible 🧵👇
It won't be for everybody but if you're on the fence about switching careers or learning to code, I'd definitely recommend exploring. You don't need to quit your day job straight away, you can just dabble to see if you like it. The important thing though is to dabble every day.
I learned by doing a short course on Udemy and then supplementing that with a ton of YouTube videos. My biggest recommendation is to figure out your learning style. This was my 2nd attempt - the first time I tried by reading programming books and failed b/c I'm just not a reader

It's confirmed: Linc has been bought by Cloudflare! You might not know what Linc is, so let me share with you what I think this means for Cloudflare, and the frontend infrastructure landscape in general. 🧵
The shortest way to define Linc.sh would be to say "It's a #JAMStack provider, like @vercel or @Netlify, but on your own Cloudflare account". (It also works with AWS, but I'll stick with Cloudflare for the rest of the thread.)
It's not doing Linc justice though (nor @vercel and @Netlify, which evolved beyond the simple JAMStack offering). One of the many things it does differently is that it understands what a frontend bundle is. In typical JAMStack providers, there's no such concept.

My love-hate relationship with the #JAMStack

A thread 🧵 👇

#100DaysOfCode
The year was 2020. The lockdown has taken its toll on my boredom. Browsing software development forums became my second job. I knew all the trends. All the hot topics.
That’s where I discovered something called The JAMStack. “Sounds delicious”, I thought to myself. Let’s learn more! Turns out it stands for “Javascript, APIs and Markup”! I am intrigued.

The tsconf.eu website runs on the JAMstack, and by now I'm 100% convinced that #JAMstack is not only a technically advanced architecture but also advanced in terms of editor experience. Here's our setup:
For the prod site, everything is as you would expect it. We use an SSG (@nuxt_js), fetch content via API from @storyblok and publish it on @netlify. Netlify deploys on merge to master, but also when Storyblok calls a hook. That's how we get up to date content.
The clue is: We run @nuxt_js in app-mode on @zeithq's now as well. This version does not generate sites but fetches the draft version directly from @storyblok

This version gives us in-page editing that's on par, if not better than popular CMSs Storyblok in Action with the TSConf website
