I am fine with #BelieveHer and #TimesUp. Can't say the same for self appointed arbiters of truth, who claims to represent assault/harassment victims.
That we lack the institutions and spaces to protect and address DV, sexual harrassment are still at the heart of the problem.
It is not up to a few individual women, as brave as they are, to take the weight of the world on their shoulders. I would like to believe that the dialogue is still ongoing. That they too make judgement calls, which at times can be called into question.
I dont blame ppl concerned about victims of GBV and harassment, who feel compelled to hold ourselves to the highest standards possible, where no such thing exists.
It is hard to trust anyone when out State institutions, politicians and civic leaders are compromised.

Connie Chung to Dr. Ford: “I, too, was sexually assaulted—not 36 years ago but ~50 years ago. I kept my dirty little secret to myself. Silence for 5 decades...The exact date & year are fuzzy. But details of the event are vivid—forever seared in my memory.”

Connie Chung: “Christine, I, too, am terrified as I reveal this publicly. I can’t sleep. I can’t eat. Can you? If you can’t, I understand. I am frightened, I am scared, I can’t even cry.”😰

Chung: “I wish I could forget this truthful event, but I cannot because it is the truth. I am writing to you b/c I know that exact dates, exact years are insignificant. We remember exactly what happened to us & who did it to us. We remember the truth forever.”

I #BelieveHer.❤️

THREAD I suppose I need to state my belief on this for the record because it will save me time. Folks, I want to believe Kavanaugh wont be confirmed because even if you dont #BelieveHer, the man is not fit for the bench. #sorrynotsorry (Evidenced by his own behavior yesterday)
But I have zero trust that the people in Congress who need to do the right thing, will.
I often see people shocked! at the injustice of it all. For me, I am just totally too close to the situation to be shocked. About any of it.
I operate from doubt most of the time tho I am...
optimistic. Because I believe in the power of good people and progress. But I also have a good idea of how power works & I have watched congresspeople throw away their own voters interests time and time and time again. It isnt specific to one party, either.

We're live-tweeting the #KavanaughHearings. It'll be a tough day for too many of us, so we're asking everyone to take time to care for yourself today. For some guidance, check out our webinar, "Self Esteem, Self Expression, and Self Love for Activists":
Pitiful that @ChuckGrassley opens with saying that *both* Dr. Blasey Ford and Brett Kavanaugh have had a bad couple weeks. One came forward with a painful truth, the other faced a reckoning for multiple allegations of abuse. #KavanaughHearings #BelieveSurivors
Thus begins @ChuckGrassley's cognitive dissonance regarding when, why, and how survivors come forward. We should control our stories and who they're shared with. #BelieveSurvivors #KavanaughHearings

Most men that I know, men who respect women as equals, are shocked when allegations come out about people like #HarveyWeinstein, #BillCosby, #LouisCK. They are in shock when men they know are accused of sexually harassing or assaulting women. THREAD 1 #BelieveWomen #RWU #MeToo
Some men find it very hard to believe that these things are so common, because they would never DO those things. If I were a man and I hadn’t experienced harassment and inappropriate behavior multiple times, I would probably find it difficult to believe. 2 #MeToo #BelieveHer
I decided to share about what I’ve experienced, so that good men who respect women can start to understand that these things happen to women know they know, work with, are related to, and love, every day. Their friends, neighbors, coworkers, relatives. 3 #sexualharassment

Alabama state auditor Jim Ziegler defended Roy Moore not by denying the allegations against him, but by pointing out that Mary, Jesus' mother, was a teenager. THREAD 1 #metoo #believewomen #predator #believeher

Yes. He compared a man in his 30's pursuing girls ranging in age from 14 to 18 to Joseph, husband of Mary. 2 #statutory #hypocrasy #privilege #itsillegal
