This morning we saw something we will NEVER forget.

We were at the #Walmart in Southeast #Calgary. We were shopping for some groceries when my stepson saw someone take a package of meat and put it under their shirt and then slowly walk over to their cart. #Food #Hungry #Alberta
This person had very few things in their cart. My stepson knows what I do here at @HarvestHillsYYC & he asked if we could help them.

I said yes we could but that this person would feel ganged up on if we all walked over to them, so I told him to stay here and that I’d walk over.
I walked over to where they had their cart and said “I know what it is like to struggle. I would love it if you’d let me help you and I’d like to pay for your groceries.”

This person looked up at me and said “did you see me take the meat?” I said “yes I did. I’d like to help”.

Today, I went out to photograph some spots along a country road near our home. I have been making note of places where I want to pull over at various hours to photograph sunsets, landscapes, horses, etc. This desperation stems from...
...the dwindliing store of photos on my hard disk. Like The Lady of Shalott I am half sick of the shadows I create of my face. I took a diversion today by posting a picture of my foot wearing one of my art socks.

My hair's getting long, but not long enough to tie into a ponytail, which is my intention in this time when we avoid barbers. You can see how long my hair has become in the selfie I posted today. In it I sit at my desk...
...working on my laptop, my immense desk towering over me and clutter filling the space that is not filled by electronics. I chose black and white for this composition as I do for all my best selfies. It's unique because...
...I show myself from the back, a trick I mastered by resorting to the ten second timer in one of my cameras. I don't know how I feel about this photo -- perhaps you have something to say. I'd be very interested.

As promised, the cats arrived today along with a photo of me hiding my face. I have enough photos for maybe a week or two.

Sometimes I put up a blurry, out of focus photo because I like the composition. That is the case of one I took of Aphrodite.

Lynn was sick today and avoiding me by staying in the loft. I had issues of my own with dizziness that I remedied with a nap. Neither of us is wheezing, so it shouldn't be Covid.

I ran into a jerk on the IRC channel who annoyed that he had Covid. When I asked him questions...

I must say that the reason why I like cats is that they don't blame every quarrel in our relationship on my #mentalillness or at least I don't spend time worrying that they do. When I deal with people -- especially those who know -- this fear...

...see evidence that they do. People give themselves away all the time. You can see it in subtle twitches of their face. They aren't that good at hiding their feelings. I had to learn to read faces. I had to know how to distinguish the sociopath from the narcissist....

I had long suspected that there were ways to game the system at #Flickr. In the back of my head, I questioned the huge number of likes some photographers got. Today I ran into a guy with an account whose photos were so bad...

...it would have been surprising if he had one or two faves. Think washed out, bad composition, etc. He averaged more than a hundred likes per photo. This threw me for a loop and for awhile I felt like Job with all the people giving me advice...

Reading Mary L. Trump's biography of the Pretender in Washington has nothing to do with the photos I am presenting today, but it is striking a chord in my life, causing me to wonder what made me turn out to be the man that I am.
I see my therapist in the mid-afternoon. We will likely discuss how my brother made it his duty to break my self esteem and, with my mother and father, possibly push me to the brink of psychosis. Some say that I shouldn't accept so much responsibility...
...for my decisions, but I disagree. I see my condition as punishment for being a failure, a loser, and it is well deserved. What sixty two year old man focuses his energies on experiments in photography such as the tap water pictures he has given his energies to lately?

I'm clutching for subjects, visiting @YouTube for videos describing projects you can perform if you are quarantined. Today I went out to go to the pharmacy and then find a place for a couple of dozen shots but my car battery was dead.
Lynn drove me to the pharmacy, but I refrained from asking her to drive me places. That project awaits my battery being jumped today or tomorrow. I'll need to spend an hour driving around so that should present me with plenty of opportunities.
I think I can stop boring you with #selfies for a few days, but only after I present this one last one which is an experiment in motion blur as well as the classic #blackandwhite portrait:

Late every night -- as I finish sorting my photos at #Flickr -- a darkness comes over me. Often it comes without subject. This mood is impossible to visualize in a photograph because outsiders expect a cause for every #depression. There is none.
"Cautious" is the title I gave to the last photo. It's the proper state of mind for the times. We need to be cautious. I have been inside since the 7th of July due to #COVID19, avoiding my fellow human beings who walk around without masks, merrily spreading infection.

There's a group on #Flickr whose title always gives me a laugh: "Narcissism in Color". When I make selfies, I have to admit that I am very much like Narcissus of mythology: the person who looks at them the most is me. This audience leans over the edge of the pool and dreams.
There's a strong association between #narcissism and dreams in #mythology. Many of us dream of that face in the pool, giving it fame that we think we deserve. The Instagrams of young people attract many likes. But this is no country for old men.

I take my #selfies for the purpose of building my #selfesteem. I know I am not more beautiful than other people. I know I am not more popular. The number of friends who view the my #photography is very small. But they are survival of sorts.

Yes, I am a wreck sometimes. I don't believe in taking the pains to look like a person who I am not. If my hair is a mess, then it is a mess. That is how I am. Many people cannot afford to be like I am. They cannot afford to let their #depression show.

Recently,there's been huge outcry over #Cessation of 7.75% #RBI #taxablebonds,that were issued in Jan2018,with 7yr maturity

Outcry is unjustified

#Repo rate is 4% now,lowest in last 20 yrs,to benefit borrowers

Its only practical to see realignment
of lending rate&savings rate!
For those in tax bracket of 30%,return is 5.4%,while for those in lowest bracket of 10%,post-tax return is 6.97%

Those in 30% bracket but with 5Cr+ invested, get post tax return of 4.4%

#Cessation means no fresh subscribers;Existing investors dont need to redeem till maturity!
Those alleging,#SeniorCitizens will get adversely affected by #Cessation of these bonds, are wrong

Senior citizens can invest in #VayaVandanaYojana, with 10 yr lock-in,at 7.4%;This scheme was to expire on 31stMarch2020,but has been renewed for another 3yrs by @narendramodi gov👍
