(1/10) ❗️Disclaimer❗️: Not an #intersectionality expert but care about #intersectionality & #healthequity. I want my research to reflect personal values. Below are just some of my musings on this ⬇️
(2/10) In my #epidemiology research, often constrained by what data is available to me...

e.g. forced to conflate #sex & #gender, treat gender as binary construct, collapse #ethnicity into meaningless categories etc. This is not good research! ☠️
(3/10) Most importantly, not doing justice to the people my research is aimed to serve. Want to change that.

Now we get to another area of particular interest for me: circadian rhythms and #fatigue. Elizabeth Klerman presenting. (1/5) #sleep
How does sleep/circadian rhythms affect various body systems and ultimate effects?
First I've heard of health disparities, here; well done, Klerman. #fatigue #sleep
Circadian rhythms WILL affect results in studies. Researchers, take note!
Record time of events, blood draws, etc.!
Include sleep metrics in subjects!
Circadian =/ diurnal.
Most studies that say they're talking about circadian rhythms are actually referencing diurnal rhythms.

American feminism has a long history of harming WOC Image
Best practices of #community engaged #research involves

American feminism
frequently believes that it

therefore
no need to listen to anybody else

Women & WOC deserve good, not bad #data.

Lawsuits over staff mandates to vaccinate or mask boggle my mind.

This has been brewing for years.

There is SO much anti-science rampant within #healthcare staff more so in those “anti-establishment” on either extreme of political spectrum

Peak Twitter. Woman w/ stage 4 #endometriosis, #fibroids, latter condition more common in WOC, post 2 gyn surgeries

identifies online #womenshealth #vaccine #survey as poor #data #quality

instead of improving, response ~ "not to attack... but am glad you are not my doctor"
Indeed, I engage patients & families 1:1 without forcing them into fields I've pre-created for my #data collection, based on assumptions I have from personal experience

Respecting women & WOC allows people to not be forced into leading questions or pre-created fields
Measuring needs to be #quality to deliver quality. Your #results will never be better than your #studydesign or collection methods. Wrote this cuz we need less measurement & more humanity. I'm in b-school & everyone sends a new survey every 30 sec..
