We Need To Base Our Understanding of Reality Upon Reality, Not Manipulation.

Everything You Think You Know About Disease Is Likely Wrong....
In order to understand the world around us as the truth about it is emerging from a 100+ year slumber, itā€™s going to be important to challenge ideas that have absolutely zero basis in reality.

I will start off by saying that we have been duped - ALL OF US.

Today is #Halfearthday2021, a plan to protect 50% of the earth, to stop #biodiversity loss & prevent #climate change. Wow, a plan to #restore the planet: that's hopeful!? Unfortunately, not. There is good science showing this is the wrong direction... šŸ§µ (1/5) #COP26 #COP15
2/5. Every funder should know that if a Half Earth proposal lands on their desk, there will be social risks. Despite the cosy rhetoric, Fortress Conservation leads to #humanrights abuses. Protecting 50% of the globe could affect >1 billion ppl, per Schleicher et al., 2019
3/5. Ecologists, none the wiser, might consider this a price worth paying if species are protected from #extinction. It's a mistake made by Kim Stanley Robinson. The great myth is that people are bad for biodiversity, as shown by Ellis et al., 2021 šŸ‘‡

More info on the @CancerPrev_KCL & @CR_UK-run NHS-Galleriā„¢ #screening trial:

kcl.ac.uk/news/kings-leaā€¦

cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/cā€¦

Worth noting you can't #volunteer for this trial, but if you are 50-77 & haven't been diagnosed with cancer in the past 3 years, you may be #invited... Image
The NHS-Galleriā„¢ #screening trial is a proper #RCT, which means half of the 140,000 participants WON'T be tested (certainly not in the initial phase) and NONE will be told whether they have been #tested or not.

Of course if the test indicates *possible* markers for #cancer... Image
...then you will be contacted by the trial nurse by phone, and will be referred to an NHS hospital for further tests.

So every participant in the NHS-Galleriā„¢ #screening trial should still attend standard screening & should contact their GP if they notice any unusual symptoms: Image

Cool new study which found that a range of #pathogens (some capable of long-term persistence in tissue + #blood) upregulate expression of the cell surface protein CD47 in the host cells they infect as an #immune evasion strategy
2/ I fact, upregulation of CD47 is a very smart survival strategy by such pathogens, b/c it interferes w/ the host innate immune response that is normally supposed to identify, target and kill them!
3/ Specifically the team found that upregulation of CD47 by the pathogens under study slowed uptake of dead/#infected cells by the #immune system, including the downstream activity of #antigen presenting cells that are needed to recognize pathogens in the first place
