Digging around the @ONS MQ5 dataset, thought I’d share 4 UK pension charts. First up, employer contributions to funded pension schemes still overwhelm employee contributions 1/4
Beneath the surface though DB normal contributions on a secular decline, with one-off Employer contributions huge and lumpy. DC contributions on the march (and can be expected to jump this April!) 2/4
When we ask who is contributing what (ex-special) we can see that aggregate contributions to schemes are on the rise as a % of GDP. 3/4
Pension contributions of the current size in the UK are a strikingly recent phenomenon 4/4
Am going to sit back now and wait for #numbers
