The Compact of Mayors officially merged w/ the Covenant of Mayors in 2016. The Global Covenant of Mayors [for Climate and Energy] unites more than 9209 cities (already committed) in 132 countries across 6 continents. This represents the world's largest coalition.

The Board is co-chaired by European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič and former New York City Mayor and U.N. Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Climate Action Michael Bloomberg. Former UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres serves as Vice-Chair.

Recall that the funding for Figueres "Global Optimism" NGO was provided by We Mean Business. Figueres serves as a B Team leader.

Figueres: board of directors of ClimateWorks, World Bank Climate Leader, leader of Mission2020 (“exponential transformation” focusing on 6 sectors that will play a key role in municipal governments & “Green New Deals”), & board member of the World Resources Institute.

The European Commission, founding partner of the Global Covenant of Mayors is also a founding partner of the Climate Finance Partnership’s Blended Finance Taskforce. A vehicle to unleash the trillions needed to reboot stagnant global economic growth under guise of climate.

The Climate Finance Partnership was formed under the leadership of French President Emmanuel Macron who announced the partnership on September 26, 2018 at the One Planet Summit held in New York. Partners include the Governments of France and Germany.
