I hate propaganda. Let’s play a thought experiment.

Have you heard that Buhari recently approved N208bn - the largest ever direct intervention - to ASUU/Nigerian universities?

Some dictionary definitions:

Misinformation - false information inadvertently spread that deceives

Disinformation - false information spread deliberately to deceive

Both are #FakeNews but note the crucial difference - intent.

So, some facts:

1. The Buhari approved disbursement has nothing to do with ASUU. Screen-grabs of why ASUU went on strike and what the FG promised them in a signed MOA below..

2. In 2011 @GEJonathan sent an executive bill to @nassnigeria for the creation of @TETFundinfo from the Education Tax Fund. @inecnigeria Chairman Yakubu was the first Executive Secretary of TETFUND.

Every year since then they have provided Intervention funds to universities.

3. The N208bn approved by Buhari is NOT part of the negotiated settlement with ASUU, is part of the statutory funding function of TETFUND, and is NOT even the highest amount this same Buhari has approved for TETFUND.

In 2017 he approved N213bn.

So why are they shouting? 🤔

This is probably why.

Look, propaganda might have a role to play in modern-day governance, but it cannot be its central plank.

ASUU will react & go back on strike; kids will be forced out of school.

Like the boy who cried wolf, if you constantly lie no one will believe you.
