@pabsgill Finnish astrophotographer, JP Metsavainio, took on the daunting task of creating a mosaic of the #MilkyWay back in 2009. It took him twelve years to get the whole picture which is around 100,000 pixels wide and has 234 individual mosaic panels stitched together.

@pabsgill "The reason for a long time period is naturally the size of the mosaic and the fact that the image is very deep. Another reason is that I have shot most of the mosaic frames as individual compositions and published them as independent artworks.," Metsavainio wrote on his blog.

A new cosmic map has suggested that the #Earth is spiralling 2,000 light-years closer to the #BlackHole located at the centre of our #MilkyWay galaxy.Dont worry,our planet is not plunging into the black hole soon as it is still thousands of light-years away from the black hole.
The new map constructed by the #astronomers from the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) is developed using data collected over the past 15 years. It places #Earth just 25,800 light-years away from the centre of the galaxy where the #BlackHole resides.

The planet must also be orbiting at the 'Goldilocks’ distance—positioned in the habitable zone around the star—in order to be able to host liquid water, and potentially life, on its surface.

Astronomers have spotted a look-alike galaxy our Milky Way with a close resemblance.

The newly found galaxy named SPT0418-47 is estimated to be located about 12 billion light-years from our galaxy, it is so far that its light takes nearly 12 billion years to travel & reach us.
The newly discovered galaxy was formed when the universe was just 10% of its current age—about 1.4 billion years old.

A galaxy comprises gas, dust & billions of stars—held together by gravity. Milky Way galaxy that holds the entire solar system—is about 13.51 billion years old.

Researchers at the University of Warsaw in Poland measured the distances between thousands of stars and our sun to chart the stars' three-dimensional coordinates across the Milky Way.
The result is an unprecedented large-scale 3D map of the galaxy. And that map shows that the edges of the Milky way bend slightly, giving it a warped S shape.

I'm wondering if it's possible to use the @ehtelescope to find out more about the #WowSignal.
And while we are talking about the #WowSignal: I have an alternative speculation for it besides aliens (although I still think it actually has a natural cause we haven't found yet, so don't get too excited): us from a parallel timeline somehow sending a spacecraft in the past.
There are possible indications why it could be us and not aliens. The first indication is that the #WowSignal didn't last long. If it really was aliens trying to contact us then why did they seemingly only send this signal for a short time and not continuously?
