For SpaceX and Musk fanboys:

I can engage in decent discours with genuinely interested people, which usually you folks aren't.

But if you come at me like a smartass, I'll serve you in kind.

Also, I don't work for you, and I don't have to prove anything.
Ok. No more discussions with Starship/Musk fanboys or smartasses.

I'll block without warning.

One genius thought we're not planning for rocket engines for the spaceplanes. How the fuck else would we go to "space" dumbass? Read my fucking analysis.

IT EVEN HAS PICTURES!

On April 13, we detected a large maneuver by Object 53357, the PRC’s experimental spaceplane.

This maneuver resulted in a decrease in altitude from 613 - 355 km.

Shown below: the previous orbit is in orange and the new one is in blue. Image
This new mission phase could indicate preparations for landing of the reusable spaceplane — or something new entirely.
Since the spaceplane launched in August 2022, we’ve observed multiple large maneuvers raising the object’s altitude — as well as repeated deployments, formation flying, and docking of a sub-satellite OBJECT J (NORAD ID 54218).

@isro, as part of plans to expand its ground station network, plans to build one in French Guiana. According to Isro, “technical discussion on establishing” the stn is on with CNES, ties with whom has expanded beyond EO to include human spaceflight & SSA. 1/n
A senior Isro scientist said: “This will be what we call a gateway station, which will be used to link the proposed Indian Data Relay Satellites (IDRS). We’ve made the proposal and the site has been identified by our partners in France… 2/n
…Acquisition of required permissions & other processes are ongoing. While the first major use case for the stn could be #Gaganyaan, this will have benefits for all future telemetry & tracking ops, monitoring of LV during launches, data downloading data from EO sats etc.” 3/n

#imagination!

imagination is life. imagination is central to thought.

it's also vital to the _tokusatsu_ show "Ressha Sentai ToQger", vide infra. "ToQger" is a favorite of ours—the heroes' greatest strength is their imagination, which their enemies hope to snuff out.

(cont'd)
in Western society, only a few persons are allowed to have #imagination. it's true. imagination, in most persons in "the West", is punished.

consider the @elonmusk / @mtaibbi cult: the reason that Elon Musk is so adored is that he's allowed to have a free imagination.

(cont'd)
there's nothing very much *original* about @elonmusk's imagination, which has an antique quality about it. it's not merely a question of advancing years, although Musk (despite his babyish personality) is getting old. Akira Kurosawa was imaginative till the day he died.

⭐️#NASA's #asteroid deflection test that saw it intentionally crash a #spacecraft into a space rock was a SUCCESS – shaving 33 minutes off the rock's orbit
dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/ar…
1. The #US #space agency's refrigerator-sized satellite managed to shave 33 minutes off the orbit of a 520ft-wide (160m) asteroid known as Dimorphos when it careered into it at 14,000mph (22,000km/h) in September last year.
2. That is nearly five times greater than predicted and more than 25 times the change in orbital period required for the mission to be considered a success.
Dimorphos orbits a much larger 2,550ft-wide (780m) object called Didymos 6.8 million miles from #Earth.

Did U.S. Companies, Including Sen. Kelly’s, Help Propel China’s Balloon Fleet? If so, what should Washington do about it? #decoupling #China #technology@RealClearNewsrealclearpolitics.com/articles/2023/…
“Sen. Kelly himself has first-hand knowledge of #China’s interest in near-#space balloon technology. He co-founded a balloon space-exploration company named World View in 2012. Just 2 yrs later, he helped facilitate investments for it from Chinese tech giant Tencent, #spyballoon
At first, Sen. Kelly's balloon firm was marketed as space tourism for civilians but switched to NASA and DoD work.

The company said it was cleared by the U.S. Defense Counterintelligence Security Agency, but DCSA told me it suspended the clearance in Jan. 2020.

@isro has officially said the NASA-Isro SAR (#NISAR), a LEO observatory being jointly developed with @NASA “shall be launched from Indian soil in Q1 of 2024”, and its science operations will begin 90 days after it reaches the intended orbit. 1/n

Pic: JPL
The synthetic aperture radar (SAR) payloads mounted on integrated radar instrument structure (IRIS) and the spacecraft bus are together called an observatory. 2/n
The observatory will map the entire globe in 12 days & provide spatially & temporally consistent data for understanding changes in Earth’s ecosystems, ice mass, vegetation biomass, sea-level rise, groundwater & natural hazards - earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes & landslides. 3/n

1: Some industry buddies and I have been taking another crack at the Drake equation based on recent discoveries in astronomy and came away with an eerie conclusion:

There was less than a 50% chance for Earth to have developed an industrial civilization at this point (1) #space
2: For the unfamiliar, here's Carl Sagan running the Drake Equation in 1977.
3: Since Frank Drake came up with this thought experiment in 1961 we've learned quite a bit about the development of sentient life on our own planet, and more about exoplanets than can be summarized in a tweet.

@isro’s latest rocket, #SSLV, is geared for launch with the space agency aiming for an early Feb launch carrying three payloads. While the main payload will be #EOS7, the mission is also expected to launch #Janus1 from US' Antaris & an Indian sat. 1/n
The Earth observation satellite #SSLV is scheduled to carry will be in the small satellite class with its mass not exceeding 200kg, while the other two satellites sharing the ride will be smaller. 2/n
#SSLV can launch around 500kg sat in a 500km planar orbit and its key features — low cost, low turn-around time, flexibility to launch multiple sats, launch-on-demand, minimal infra requirements, etc,. — can make it a go-to LV for commercial launches in the future. 3/n

Had to be away. But here are some developments. More to follow later this evening or early tomorrow.

@isro, which has received a key payload #VELC for #AdityaL1 today, has completed survey and radiation studies at Fiji Islands for a temporary station being designed specifically for the Solar mission, while exploration of other sites is ongoing. 2/n
Fiji Islands is one of the options being explored to support the observatory-class space-based solar mission wherein the spacecraft will be placed in a halo orbit around L1. A final decision on location will be taken later based on the exact mission profile of the mission. 3/n

I would hazard to guess that if there's *one thing* that's most characteristic of the modern-day #STEM Lord mindset, it isn't racism (although folks like @ID_AA_Carmack and @RokoMijic give one pause) or even a love of #computers.

it's probably a fondness for *explosions*.

(1/x)
I think that's bad. and I *like* explosions.

I've spent time—like lots of nerds—looking for videos of large explosions. and we're knowledgeable of chemistry, in the Pnictogen Wing, so we know a bit about chemical explosives. "high energy compounds", to use a euphemism.

(2/x)
there's some beauties out there. I know of the existence of the most astonishing chemical rarities—molecules that inspire equal awe and terror.

you wonder how something like (N₅⁺)P(N₃)₆⁻ can possibly hold together. that's "pentazenium hexaäzidophosphate".

and really this is what the failure of #capitalism boils down to: capitalists hate *equilibrium*. a healthy planet full of life is a physical system—one of profound complexity, but still, a system in dynamic equilibrium, maintaining an approximately steady state over time.

(1/x)
"steady state", in economic terms, would mean a #business that continues to provide approximately the same services or products over time to a steady clientele—not a *constant* number of clients but one that varies up and down with time, oscillating about a steady average.

(2/x)
and this #business would continue over time to charge about the same for its products or services, and the profit rakeoff going towards workforce and #management pay would also remain about the same. this approximately stable state would be a business at equilibrium.
