#China has respected the sovereignty of the Republic of Korea (#ROK) and understands its security concerns. However, since the #US deployment of the #THAAD anti-missile system in the ROK undermines China’s strategic security, the Chinese side cannot just look the other way.
The #Chinese and #ROK foreign ministers held in-depth exchange of views on this issue during their recent meeting in #Qingdao, where they elaborated on the two sides’ respective positions and agreed to take each other’s security concerns seriously.
The two ministers agreed to strive to properly handle the issue to make sure it does not become a stumbling block to bilateral relations.

The #US deployment of #THAAD anti-missile system in the #ROK clearly undermines #China’s strategic security interest. China has made clear its concern to the ROK side on multiple occasions.
#ROK officially announced its policy of “three nos & one restriction” (no additional deployment of #THAAD in ROK; no participation in a #US-led missile defense network; no involvement in a trilateral military alliance with the US & Japan; & restriction in use of THAAD deployed).
#China attaches importance to this position of the #ROK government. Based on the understanding between the two sides, China and the ROK were able to properly handle the #THAAD issue.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between #China and the #ROK. Bilateral relations embrace important opportunities for development and also face some practical challenges.
It is in the common interests of both sides to well maintain and develop bilateral relations, otherwise, the two countries will both suffer. This is the successful experience of the continuous development of bilateral relations over the past 30 years.
#China and the #ROK are close neighbors and inseparable partners. The two countries are in a security environment where the two peoples rise and fall together, and have formed an industrial cycle of converging interests.

2 years ago today, #Trump walked out on #KimJongUn in Hanoi, w lunch all set on table. Greatest snub princeling-turned-deified dictator has ever faced. Trum walked away from a deal that would have enabled Kim to build more bombs undisturbed. but he also embarrassed himself by 1/ Image

More on the roughing up of @StephGrisham45 that took place after #DPRK guards pushed and shoved American reporters to block them from entering Freedom House on the #ROK side of the border, compelling the @SecretService to intervene.
I can attest that @SecretService press agents (when we are in the 'bubble' with @POTUS and @VP) ensure that we are able to do our jobs and will intervene on our behalf when host country security tries to step in front of the @WhiteHouse traveling media pool.
On Feb. 9, 2018, when #ROK agents blocked us from entering the room with @VP, @moonriver365 and @AbeShinzo, @SecretService agents scuffled with their counterparts and shoved us into the room to ensure we could do our job. voanews.com/east-asia/penc…
