I will be live tweeting from the @HSBC AGM, where HSBC's management-backed climate resolution will be voted on

Expect lots of questions on the #EACOP pipeline, biodiversity, fossil fuels & other ESG issues from @ShareAction & many others

Let's go 👇

#HSBCAGM #AGMactivism
HSBC's Chair of the Board Mark Tucker opens the AGM by reflecting on the past year & the future ahead - a world of uncertainty

He reminds everyone of the reason why HSBC was founded: to connect East & West

He goes through HSBC's future priorities, many of which are ESG-oriented
E.g. He recognises that HSBC has not done enough in the past to foster diversity - but this will change

He ends his speech talking about the need to speed up the transition to net-zero

He recognises that we "need to reduce and ultimately eradicate our reliance on fossil fuels"

Russ.

(THREAD) W/out providing any sub evidence, the disinformation campaign is moving into high gear to manufacture consent for US war w/ Iran over burning Saudi oil fields. But what if I told you Iran offers a convenient scapegoat after Houthis exposed weakness of US military might?
Saudi &US military analysts have presented satellite images of where the missiles landed in the oil fields, purporting to show that the drones/missiles came from the direction of Iran. However, some experts are already countering these claims +
pointing out that the images show impact points that are indeed west-northwest, which is the opposite direction of Iran.

In a rare media apperance Head of #Russia's Foreign Intelligence (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin said his Service collecting info on may be behind attacks on #SaudiAramco Saudi oil refineries but this far has no "ultimate conclusions" thus "cannot make any conclusions" for now.
Meanwhile @mod_russia doubles down on criticism of #US air-defences for #Saudis.
High-level official told #Russia/n media 2day that #Moscow knows Saudi northern border protected by 88 Patriots (36 are PAC-2, 52 PAC-3s) + 3 American destroyers armed w 100 SM-2 missiles in the Gulf
@mod_russia The official continued: "The question is how this powerful air-defense system could have missed dozen of drones & cruise missiles? One reason only: Well-advertised American systems don't meet the stated technical characteristics & can't deal w/ these types of threats."

1. America's & now @POTUS Trump's problem is the need to show tough guy response to actions like what Iran did at #SaudiAramco. We love big shows of US planes and forces but then when the butcher's bill comes we regret it. To deal with Iran Trump must think strategically.
2. Harm Iran in areas that it seeks to advance its influence. The easiest and most obvious is to run Iran out of Syria. I have no idea if the SDF will assist but in any event, using small diameter bombs on all IRGC and Hezbollah forces will create terror in their ranks.
3. And we need to tell Erdogan that he chose poorly in Syria and his alliance with Russia and Iran means his forces must now leave #Afrin. Do that and I'd bet the SDF would help run Iran out of Dodge. 😎 @WHNSC @WhiteHouse

1. Busy days in the Mideast.
Cause of #SaudiAramco Oil fires still are not confirmed
Rouhani, Erdogan & Putin meet in Ankara
Assad Regime makes threats against the #SDF in UN.

I think they are trying to scare @POTUS Trump into running from Syria again. Saudi attack if that is
2. what happened is likely coordinated with the other two things. They know Trump does not want a war because he and Bolton split. So what do you do when you know your enemy won't fight? You attack. This time the Saudi's were the most logical target. Then the Assad regime makes
3. some threats likely thinking that if Iran can attack the Saudis, they can threaten the SDF especially with Turkey itching to attack. So what should @WhiteHouse @WHNSC do? A smart president would do the exact opposite of what the adversaries want so as to not encourage more.

One day spike in #Crude is highest in the History. Higher than 1979 Iran oil crisis and 1991 Iraq war. #CrudeOil #SaudiAramco #DroneAttacks Image
I don’t usually trade #commodities, but today I took a contrary bet, thought the over night crude attack news would bring in more people to buy the crude, which would push the price to open gap up and there would be few users who might be holding over night short position.
so they might cover the shorts if crude goes up further, and exactly the same happened, after gap up, moved little further and hit stop loss of overnight short holders..
