Let talk about #skills!!

Yesterday I was speaking to a group of 10 #youths in the university between 100 - 300 level.

I shared what I would have done if I was to go back to my 100 days.

This trend is my personal views on how I could have been better.

I got no regret

1/9
In my 100 level days, I should've engaged in extracurricular activities - community development clubs, leadership, mentorship, problem-solving and capacity building.

Ps: While working, I discovered teamwork and leadership are essential skills needed to thrive at work.

2/9
In my 200 level days, I should've engaged in passion discovery and relate my passion with my course of study. I will learn the act of turning passion into business and business into profit.

If I've found my gift earlier, I won't struggle to learn web design 4 years ago.

Oh God of creation, direct our noble cause
Guide our leader’s right
Help our youth the truth to know
In love & honesty to grow
And living just & true
Great lofty heights attain
To build a nation where peace & justice shall reign.

This second stanza of the national anthem is
always my first prayer when it's independence day.

My prayer in recent times has been "Help our youth the truth to know. "
A country highly dominated & blessed with creative youths, it's saddening that youths who should be propellers of a positive society are the 21st-century
tool used to perpetuate violence in the same society.

"Knowing the right thing is important, doing the right thing is more important."

I know one of the first lines of defence when these issues come up, is "Nigeria is not a sane clime, our leaders are this & that, the economy

This is a call to invite all qualified young people to participate in the Amplify Change Program, #YouthAmplifySRHR. The program aims to increase awareness and uptake of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services and products among young people in tertiary institutions. #srhr
This project is aimed at tertiary institutions in #Ekiti, #Ogun, #Osun, #Oyo, and #Lagos State, only. Therefore applications are open to students whose schools are in the listed states. #SRHR #Nigeria #Youths @NaijaFlyingDr @UnilagOlodo @SMPN_Unibadan
Young people are diverse and so are their sexual and reproductive health needs. It is important to equip them with SRHR information that will empower them to make life choices that will promote the security of their future. #srhr @PPact @FP2020Global @Oyekanmijr @RobinsonRhoda

1. My name is Bell Ihua, I'm a Global Citizen from the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Let me start my commentary by wishing all our dear workers #HappyWorkersDay, especially all those providing essential services to our beloved country. Today, i've come to #Push4JobCreation.
This is because for us to be talking about Workers Day, it means people should have "Work". But we know that not everyone that's able and willing to work in Nigeria (and elsewhere) can find decent work, and that's the essence of my commentary today. #Push4JobCreation
2. I'm truly concerned about the triple whammy effect of Covid-19, Unemployment and Insecurty that many Nigerians have been made to face this period. I'm concerned about the state of insecurity, fuelled by the rate of unemployment and that's why I'm here to #Push4JobCreation

MILITANTS NOW HAVE MORE MONEY TO BUY WEAPONS

Ogoniland is a symbol of the struggle for the emancipation of the Niger Delta.
Following the killing of the Ogoni nine including Ken Saro Wiwa, the situation in the creek degenerated. Image
Militant groups operating with dangerous weapons have since emerged, staking their claims exuberantly.

The groups are involved in kidnapping, bunkering and refining of crude. In a discussion with Ledum Mitee, a former president of the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People
(MOSOP), he suggested that illegal oil bunkering provide jobs for about 500,000 youths of the Niger Delta. That it is possible the youths of the region now has more money to buy weapons than they had before amnesty was declared in 2009.

Let's discuss yesterday's polls and begin our discussion on youth entrepreneurship with #GEMChats

This is a thread.
In a summary report of an OECD and the European
Commission seminar in 2014 , two things were key points:

1. #unemployment was at 10.9% in 2013 and double for #youth : 23.4%

2. 45% of youth prefer self-employment to
#employment, whereas 37% of adults prefer self-employment.
In Malaysia, MIDF reports find youth unemployment to be high - hitting a record 10.8% last year, attributed to a skills mismatch.

This is a significant 40.5% of total unemployment in #Malaysia.

So what can be done?
