1/ 🎉 Day 8 of #AllinAI: As someone who's always been fascinated by #AR #VR and 3D scanning, I'm excited to explore Neural Radiance Fields (#NeRF)! NeRF is a game-changing AI technique that has transformed the 3D scene reconstruction & rendering. Let's dive in!
2/ 📊 Traditional 3D scanning methods like #photogrammetry & #lidar faced challenges like noise, inconsistencies & limited detail. NeRF uses AI to help overcome these by creating high-quality 3D renderings from 2D images.
3/ 🌐 How it works: Take a few pictures of an object. NeRF's deep neural network optimizes the radiance field to match the 2D image, combining color & volume density to create a stunning, detailed 3D rendering.

Voxelizing a photogrammetry mesh to render it in Unreal Engine

Using voxels makes it lightweight to render and allows for extremely easy & speedy edits

1/3

#ue5 #voxel #lidar #photogrammetry
Voxelization is fully GPU-based and only takes a few minutes for huge meshes (several GB)

Collisions are fully supported, only loading the area around the player to reduce perf impact

2/3
The photogrammetry mesh was created in DJI Terra by @TotalviewVR

Combined with the voxelized LiDAR interiors, this is going to make a pretty fun package :)

1/ We used NeRF to get this shot. This entire thing was shot with a phone 🤳 No drones were used @jperldev #photogrammetry #instantNeRF #neuralrendering #artificialintelligence
2/ Here's how - walked around me in circles a few times, pointing his phone at me. We fed the video into Instant-NGP which created a NeRF out of the footage.
3/ It's kinda like a 3D model, but instead of creating mesh+textures it’s more like a point cloud that changes color depending on what angle you view it from. This creates beautiful surreal lighting effects - you can see how the light hits differently as we change camera angles.

THREAD

On all cool #OSINT techniques & tools I come across over the rest of my life.

That's what happened when you get bored on a Saturday afternoon after trying to understand some advanced image forensics.

Also aiming to make this the longest thread in @Twitter history.
@Twitter Re image forensics, let's begin with #photogrammetry.

Here is a brilliant article by @Sector035, explaining how to measure the distance between an object in a photo and the camera that took the photo.

@OsintCurious is a great resource by the way!

This is a @Twitter thread I'll build over time.

One tweet a day.

That's how I plan to beat the world's record of the longest thread.

Just saw the @ReadyPlayerOne movie and want to know how it stacks up against the reality of virtual reality? This thread that breaks down what RP1 gets right, not-quite-right, and flat-out wrong about the future of #VR, immersion, & the metaverse.
We’ll also examine the tech #ReadyPlayerOne left out altogether. After all, the film is set in 2045, and given the exponential rate of technological advancement, 27 years will likely yield some dramatic changes in society.
There are a few articles that have pointed out some of the basics, but having worked in the industry for 4+ years, I want to paint a fuller picture of our impending reality, with RP1 as the jumping-off point.
