1/🧵 Once upon a time, there were two Japanese brothers living in Germany. They knew the power of supporting their own country's industry and proudly used #MadeInJapan pencils, even when others looked down upon them. This is their story of faith and persistence. ✏️🇯🇵
2/ The brothers, Hiroshi & Kenji, faced criticism and ridicule from their peers for using Japanese pencils. But they never wavered in their belief in Japan's potential to excel in manufacturing. 📚🌟
3/ 🌆 As time passed, Japan's manufacturing capabilities grew, and the country began to develop high-quality products. Hiroshi & Kenji saw the fruits of their steadfast support and remained loyal to their homeland's industry. 🇯🇵💪

The @CityofWheeling #CityCouncil held its second and final meeting today, February 21, 2023! I report as a #folkreporter independently for the Hudson Household Editorial. This thread was made using @FolkReporters | @BlackByGodWV thread guide!

1/13
First thing to note: admittance to the City-County building often involves removing your belongings to be scanned, and walking through a medal detector. I was informed by an officer “no one is at post,” and this safety check was not conducted.

2/13
In attendance were Mayor Elliot @MayorWheeling, Rep Thalman @ViceMayorWhg, Rep @RosemaryKetchum, Rep Sklavounakis, and Rep Palmer. Rep @benseidler and Rep @t_thorngate were absent.

😡📢 Bear with me while I air my disappointment and frustration with my local supermarkets @Tesco and @asda on their betrayal of Scottish and UK farmers during what is a deeply challenging time for the sector 👇

#SupportLocal #BackBritishFarming
First on my lunchtime stop today was @Tesco in Kilmarnock to do a wider food shop but also pick up some lamb.

There was not one single Scottish or UK lamb product on their shelves. But a plentiful selection from New Zealand... Image
Then it caught my eye that most of the pork on the shelves next to it were stacked with pork from Denmark - at a time when the UK pork industry is on its knees!

Pig farmers are leaving the sector left, right and centre, reducing numbers, struggling with feed costs and backlog! Image

"Eh, banyak pula iklan pasal peti."
Ini ialah salah satu sistem dalam marketing digital zaman sekarang, iaitu retarget marketing.

Sebab apa?

Sebab syarikat penjualan ini nak mencapai misi "Rule of 7" tadi. Supaya kita nampak iklan produk itu banyak kali dan rasa yakin nak beli.

PIE CHARTS, OUTBREAKS & FRUSTRATION: A THREAD

Yesterday, the province presented data about sources of COVID-19 outbreaks in Ottawa. That data, notably the pie charts, caused some confusion and we understand your frustrations.

Perhaps we can clear things up a smidgen? (1/11)
In a pandemic, it's even more vital that you get clear, concise info to help you understand the “why” behind the guidance that is being provided. Many of you are currently frustrated & know that we understand. Sometimes the data can be overwhelming, and we'd like to help. (2/11)
Important note: outbreaks are part of the picture, but not all. Of our nearly 7000 lab-confirmed cases of COVID to date (the real number is much higher as not everyone gets tested), just over 2150 came from confirmed outbreaks (a little over 30%).

But what are outbreaks? (3/11)

Things like this make me mad 😡. @HarvestHillsYYC is a grass roots organization that only has at the moment a staff of twenty volunteers that also have lives and families of their own

But when someone makes a request and demands to be put to the top of the list ahead of others..
...and when they are politely told that it was not possible because there were other requests ahead of them...they accused The Harvest Hills Cares Calgary Team of not wanting to help!

They even threatened to go ahead and tell everyone about the “experience” they had.
Jenn had her volunteer call her in tears because that volunteer was threatened as well when all they did was respond in an appropriate manner.

I have included proof of these messages with all identifying information removed.

I miss everything about being a #comedian, both on and off stage.

I’ll list some below but as we ask @OliverDowden to #SaveLiveComedy, as a comic or a punter, what do you miss about #LiveComedy?
I miss not knowing how a gig will go beforehands and then standing on stage telling jokes to a room that will judge a punchline in the moment & not based on any knowledge of how it’s been received before. I miss reading the room and editing as I go to get the best of a set.
I miss the awkward conversations with audience at gigs. The praise when things go well and avoidance of eye contact when you’ve died. I even miss hearing their jokes and being told “here, you can have that one for your skit!”

I have an idea:

If everyone dislikes/hates/does not approve of @jkenney and the UCP donors....why not regular everyday people like us donate to a grassroots organization or group that is struggling under the @Alberta_UCP government?
I’ve donated $100.00 to @HarvestHillsYYC and I challenge others to donate as well. Let’s show the @Alberta_UCP and @jkenney that we Albertans take care of our own since our own government doesn’t, can’t or won’t!

Here are some of my thoughts and interventions from this morning’s session hosted by Stanbic.

We need to prepare for a prolonged, unpredictable economic crisis. An economic recovery plan is urgently needed to reduce the long term impacts of this crisis. Focus should be on:
*Building resilient communities with a focus in ‘vulnerable to poverty’ + poor group which constitutes about 30% of BW population. Decisive policy action is needed to get these communities through this crisis, with lasting impact.
In the short term measures such as Helicopter money instead of food packages should be considered. Helicopter money will enable wide spread use of cash in the economy other than just for food, this will include recapitalization of the informal sector & SMEs

Keeping on the subject of supporting Irish businesses, dinner tonight was from @FadeStSocial ‘s new At Home menu. So many restaurants are thinking laterally about creating a “dine out” experience at home, and I’m not surprised @McGrathDylan has done it so well here...
Dishes are 90% prepared in the restaurant but finished at home. I can tell you it works (and if you hide the boxes quickly enough, you could pretend you’d made it yourself 😜).
Comes like this:

1/8 Welcome to the #FidgetAndBob Kennet Island Tribune

We have kept trading through lock-down with the support of our wonderful customers. It's been tough, as we've changed a lot of what we do and how we do it. Nonetheless, we are one of the lucky ones.
2/8

There are many wonderful independent cafes and restaurants in a precarious position and wondered what positive actions WE can take right now to support them.

1. If they are trading, make an effort to support them with your custom. Buy what you can from them..
3/8

..rather than just what you usually get.

2. If they are not trading, buy a voucher that you can use when they re-open.

3. If there is a friend or family special occasion coming up, find a local business near them to source a gift.

Lucy's wonderful daycare, Dog Pals in DC—a small family business—is struggling due to the shutdown. They are collecting donations that go straight to staff members.

Donate any amount through PayPal (DogpalinDC@hotmail.com), show me a receipt, and I will respond with a Lucypic.
I'm kicking things off with a picture of Lucy AT DogPals, hanging out with all her friends. She has a whole secret life at the DogPals farm that she refuses to tell me about. ImageImage
Dog Pals is a Latino-owned business, and many of their employees are immigrants. Even a dollar or two would help their staff get through this difficult time. I don't think anyone on this planet loves dogs more. Please #supportlocal and #supporteachother! Image

Love this 😻🥰 The #CountryMarket and #FarmersMarket in #Naas are great for locally grown food and plants for your garden #shoplocal #supportlocal
The Country Market will be moving here from February #exciting Here's a look at what they had there this morning
The #NaasCountryMarket has been run by local people for donkeys year and while they’re a little sad to be leaving the town hall, I’m excited that all these goodies will be on sale from the #Theatre foyer every Friday. The town hall will be turned into the Naas Library in 2019
