While normally Greg doesnā€™t #worry, in this case, he succumbed to fear of change.

He was screaming and Crying in Fear - see tweet below.

How did he get through it?
What did he teach me?

2/ Greg held his head in his hands and trembled with worry.

We were disrupting his usual Saturday of watching ā€œI Love Lucy.ā€

Think Rain Man type of dependence on routine &
thatā€™s Greg.

So when Kim and I took him to the mountains, it totally messed him up.

What happened?

3/ At first Greg got angry with us for taking him on this trip.

I mean, REALLY angry.

And we know that #ANGER is just one letter away from #DANGER.

He was heading in a dangerous path of rejecting something that could be healing & good in his life.

Who is up for COVID vaccines? All across the world, men, people who trust science, & people who worry about COVID more likely to say yes to a vaccine--

Our new study in @BMJ_Open, surveying 20,000 people across 12 countries in 2020.

We find that men, people more #trusting of expertise (scientists, science, and med professionals), and those who #worry about COVID-19 are most likely to say ā€˜yesā€™. i.e. strongest predictors in a model...

One key takeaway: the burden of trust fell more on sci/med rather than govt in the early stages of the pandemic (when data collected). This means doctors and scientists need to think hard about communicating in ways that exhibit trustworthiness. See:

Being worry is not a bad thing though. It means someone needs to be more careful to do something properly, but being over worry, then being overwhelmed by, and finally being enslaved by it is a whole different story.

1/10 Itā€™s hard to shut my mind off in the face of #COVID19. As #AcuteCareSurgeons our day/night/weekend jobs taking care of #injured patients and #patients needing #EmergencySurgery for abdominal and soft tissue diseases do not dissipate.
2/10 Yet we are also experts in #CriticalCare and need to prepare to care for patients w/ #respiratoryfailure and #shock due to #COVID19. We are implementing #plans based on the little evidence that exists while trying to stay #safe, #healthy, and #resilient.
3/10 We step into the trauma bay as others threaten to shoot our patient (but police can protect us). We do operations where rHepC/HIV risk is high (but PEP can protect us). We don't shy away from blood, feces or dead flesh up to our eyeballs (but we have #PPE to protect us).

I read a great article on why the younger generation do not buy cars & apartments anymore & found it #TooGoodNotToShare

#WhyOwnWhenYouCanRent?

#SharedEconomy

Nowadays, the traditional measure of success-owning an apartment & or a car-is getting out of date
An increasing number of young people around the world donā€™t want to buy them.

#Research shows that the so-called #MillennialGeneration, who are now 30-35 years old, rarely buy houses and even more rarely ā€” cars. In fact, they donā€™t buy super expensive things at all.
In the USA, people under the age of 35 are called ā€™the generation of renters.ā€™

Why does this happen?

Some sociologists say the current generation of young people differs from their parentsā€™ generation. They have other values.
