Let's break them down:
1. Intuition
The query aims to retrieve information about managers in the Employees table, including their IDs, names, the number of employees reporting to them, and the average age of their reports.
The solution involves using a self join. Since we were told that a manager is also an employee, we will join the table to itself, where the employee_id field is equal reports_to field. On this premise, we aggregate the number of employees who report directly to the manager,

Let's break down each question
1. Logic: Show the classes, where the number of student is more than 5. The word "At least" tells us something, we have to include 5 as part of our filtering condition, hence >=5
2. This looks pretty straight forward. For each user, we want to....
..return the number followers, hence the need to use the Group BY clause. This clause allows us to aggregate data against the unique categorical/qualitative values in a field.
3. The given SQL query finds the maximum value (num) from the "mynumbers" table that appears only once.

Let's break down each code
1. The ending part to the question is where the major conditional logic lies. We were told to return the needed columns, and price for the first year of every product sold. Since we do not have distinct column showing min years for each product,
We have to create that with a subquery in the Where clause. We are concerned about the first year of every product sold, so we aggregate the min years for each product. After doing that, we tell SQL to return the prices of products, the year, and qty when the product was first..

A friend rang me after applying for 40+ jobs in 2 months with 0 contacts and 0 interviews

I got him 4 recruiter contacts, 3 interviews and 1 officer in 2 weeks

Here's what we tweaked:

#thread
He initially told me he was job hunting and would prefer to apply online

After reading his profile, I tried to discourage him, but he insisted on online applications.

I agreed but on a condition
I told him:

"If you don't get a job in 60 days, we will do it my way"

He agreed.

Deal.

I recently helped 3 professionals prepare for job interviews.

They landed their dream jobs at:
- JP Morgan, UK
- Australian Government Health Department
- International Research Institute, UK

They couldn't thank me enough.

Here's how I prepared them:

1. There are 3 key stages in a job interview - entry, process and exit.

The entry and exit are the most important.
#1. The Entry

You need to put your best foot forward for the entry by ACING your first question.

It's crucial

I've been on both sides of an Interview table and have experience over 50+ interviews.

Here are some 8 Tips about cracking your Technical Interviews 🧵👇

#100DaysOfCode #Interviews
1. Ask Questions:

You will be intentionally given a vague question with vague inputs.

You are expected to ask clarifying question and have clear understanding of requirements before jumping into solution.

Don't assume anything !!
2. Improve Solution Overtime

You're not expected to come up with optimised solution in one go. First come up with brute force and then eventually try to optimize it.

Interviewers usually give some hint about optimised solution. Don't expect it for obvious ones.

Delighted to hold my book, now out with @CUP_PoliSci! Making Bureaucracy Work examines how public agencies deliver primary #education in India.

What is my argument? How might it advance our thinking on #bureaucracy, #implementation & the politics of inclusive #development? 🧵1/ Image
My book investigates variation in the delivery of primary schooling across rural India. Comparative scholarship has shed light on differences in social policies and public spending. I focus on policy implementation, a critical but understudied arena of education politics. 2/
Why implementation? Most countries have laws for universal primary schooling (#SDGs Goal 4). E.g. India has expanded education programs and spending. But implementation is a huge challenge. Meeting this challenge is critical for millions of households who rely on govt schools. 3/ ImageImage

I did 20+ intern/trainee interviews yesterday and this is what I learnt.

1. Attitude and communication skills have drastically improved over the years.
2. Candidates are asking right Qs about companies and are critical about opportunities to try multiple tech stacks. 1/5
3. Still not enough focus on basics. Struggles when simple OOP questions come in forms of use cases.
4. Are willing to learn. Yes to this always!
5. Not a single candidate queried about wages. 2/5
Although as an undergrad this shouldn't be your first question, you can ask nicely about your compensation.
6. Expectations of USD pegged salary benefits haven't yet penetrated this batch of freshers.
7. Need more girls in tech! 3/5

Networking tips that built my self-efficacy (thanks @midhatf3) a self-reflection and follow-along 🧵

(cc: @InclusiveGradEd @APSphysics)
apparently, MORE than 80% of jobs are found by networking?!! And networking is more than just starting a connection - it is also about maintaining it. I'll just leave some silence to absorb this statistic (looking at you #phdchat) and next up is identifying who's who
Networks and people are continuums... but identifying one or more roles a person in your network serves can *srsly* help you make a bettr elevator pitch.

Let's brainstorm & try to categorize our networks. Lets identify the category that needs more ppl. Lets build ntwrks robustly

Sell 👁️👁️
Sell the vision you have, if you can't sell your vision yourself, chances of hitting a home run is negligible, hiring talent/ selling to customers/ raising money is insanely difficult without this trait
Reach out📢
Reach out to the best people in your network, get them to work with you, convince them if you think they're a great fit.

Real eg. : Had to visit & meet parents of a potential content writer, as she had extraordinary skills, but her parents were against working.
Think of Candidates as #Customers, you've to sell them the vision 🔭 + Provide an #experience.

Experience here means - proper communication {Well written JD, what exactly are they expected to do, hours, skills reqd}, tell them how would they progress? how much can they make?

High stakes means people are on the lookout for anything bad.

And honestly, if you get vetoed by one interviewer, you probably didn't vibe with them. That may or may not be "your fault" but you CAN work on being positive and high-energy.

Let me do a quick thread on #interviews.
I've done hundreds of interviews, both as interviewer and interviewee, and most people grossly misunderstand how #interviews work.

First off, an interview is human interaction.
This seems obvious but the point is, it's not a neutral infodump. It's a vibe check.

What that means is a little more complicated, because people are complicated.

If you are awesome and they can pick up on it, great! Unless they're insecure, in which case it goes against you.

Do #qualitative interviews cause #distress when used for sensitive topics and/or in sensitive populations?
A thread (& case study with #cancer #survivors).
1/5
2/5 #Qualitative research is ideally suited to gain rich insights into human experience, including those with medical conditions and at-risk groups.

But, one #barrier to conducting #qualitative interviews is concern (often from physicians or IRB/ethics) of causing #distress
3/5 Yet, data on distress around #qualitative #interviews with medical pops is lacking.

In our new #PsychoOncologypaper, #AYA #cancersurvivors completed a validated distress screening tool before, after & 1 week after an interview on #fearofrecurrence

@acrimed_info @arretsurimages #politique

A thread: How I prepared for a #tech role in #FAANG
1. Technical preparation of #python and #SQL
2. Behavioral and cultural screen with @Latesha_Byrd
3. Deep dive on department domain and current tools and techniques
Technical preparation included practicing @LeetCode and @CodeSignalCom for #SQL and #python. I started to time myself and also spoke out loud what I was doing and why to get familiar with #whiteboarding etiquette. I also had my friends mock interview me.
I also utilized @TeamBatcode for more #python practice with primitive #datastructures and #Algorithms. It was consistent practice while talking out loud. I probably worked through about 50-60 problems.
