reviving indian science 101

govt must:
1. scrap all the scientific #awards immediately, across all subjects.
2. open #director positions of all scientific inst to non-scientists.
3. double the #salary of scientists but make all their jobs contractual. @DrJitendraSingh @PMOIndia
1. awards have effectively destroyed indian science. if we want to encourage science, give special grants to the chosen scientists with no riders on how and where he/she/they can spend. awards have made people work for awards and not to discover/find anything new.
2. one need not to have a science degree to be a good administrator. science inst need scientists as directors is a nonsensical argument. majority of directors do no (zero) science. its better to have a person w acute administrative skills over a lousy scientist with no skills.

1/4. Journalists should not accept awards from governments they cover or critique. If the external auditor of a venture you were invested in was accepting the company’s awards, you would be furious. The journalist is an external auditor to government.

2/4. In this respect, journalists are different from musicians, artists, sportspersons, and some other groups. Unlike journalists, those other groups are not likely to be subsequently called upon to scrutinize the government’s functioning.

3/4. The point of non-acceptance is less about governments and more about the personal and professional ethical protocols of the journalist. I do not seek to impose mine on other journalists – others who choose to accept state awards have a right to do so.

#FDR promoted the idea that the people of the world, in all nations, shared entitlement to four freedoms: that of the freedom of speech and expression, the freedom of worship, the freedom from want and the freedom from fear.
#FDR is arguably one of the most 'successful' #US Presidents. Some would argue that on the basis of his numerous social policies such as 'the New Deal'. Others, however, would argue that his role during the second world war was more prevalent to his success & everlasting legacy.

I read a Simply outstanding thought & found it #TooGoodNotToShare

It’s #SpecialToBeOrdinary..

This message may actually end up changing one's #attitude to life if one understands the hidden depth behind this short quiz...

1 Name the 3 wealthiest people in the world in 2017
2 Name the last 3 winners of Miss Universe

3 Name the last 3 people who won the Nobel Prize for Physics

I am sure most of us struggle to get the correct answers spontaneously. The point here is that none of us remembers the headlines of yesterday
Even though these people must be the best in their fields the fact remains..

✖️Applause dies

✖️Awards get tarnished

✖️Achievements are forgotten
